As not to be expected by now the virus is starting to spread and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that a child from the Bronx and an adult from Brooklyn are in hospital are expected to be confirmed as having the virus.

It is believed that both the child and the adult have been in contact with a large number of people.

It is thought that the child does have the virus, she has more than likely passed it on to other kids in the playground.

Meanwhile California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared a state of emergency in his area where California has 11 confirmed cases.

Health officials are asking people to remain calm.

Swine Flu: Deaths, confirmed & unconfirmed of Swine influenza

The Los Angeles County coroner's office is investigating the recent deaths of two men, 33 and 45 years old, for links to swine flu.

President Obama is seeking $1.5bn from Congress to battle the virus, as Cuba halts travel to Mexico, the centre of the outbreak.

Swine flu has spread to Asia and the Middle East as world health officials admitted the virus could not be contained.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has already increased the global alert level - indicating "a significant step towards a pandemic".

It comes as the estimated death toll from the virus in Mexico reached 152.

Swine flu has turned up in at least seven countries and appears to be jumping borders via plane flights.

As many countries intensified airport checks, the WHO stressed that border screenings "don't work" in detecting passengers who may be infected.

"If a person has been exposed or infected... the person might not be symptomatic at the airport," said spokesman Gregory Hartl."Border controls don't work. Screening doesn't work."

This whole thing is very suspicious. It feels wrong, like a purposeful attack or test.

Argentina has suspended all flights from Mexico and have asked all North American visitors to report to the Health Ministry:

Mr Massa called on the 60,000 visitors from Canada, Mexico and the US who have arrived in Argentina in the past 20 days to contact the government, which will take measures to control a possible spread of the virus.
