Snowstorms in the Midwest have closed roads in Wisconsin, shut down flights at O'Hare, you name it. It's a mess out there.

MILWAUKEE (AP) - A major snowstorm has left motorists and some air travelers stranded in the Midwest.

In Wisconsin, the National Guard says as many as 800 vehicles remain stranded on Interstate 90 after semitrailer trucks got stuck on the highway yesterday, backing up traffic for 19 miles.

Officials used snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles to get to the motorists. One National Guard officer says it looks like some drivers simply gave up and went to sleep.

Parts of southern Wisconsin got 20 inches of snow.

Meanwhile, lines are long at Chicago's O'Hare airport after about 1,000 flights were canceled yesterday. About 100 passengers spent the night on cots. Eighty flights have been canceled this morning, and officials expect delays throughout the day.

More than 200 public school districts and private schools have canceled classes in Michigan, and so have a number of community colleges.
