I got up just before 4 a.m. this morning with the intent of photographing the Orionid meteor shower. Catching meteors on camera is like a hunt; you have to be patient. But with a digital camera and an intervalometer you can program repeated exposures. Here is a sample of a 1 minute exposure, although 30 seconds would have been better. I came up empty over two hours but did witness about 15 meteors with my own eyes, including a couple of bright fireballs. Three of our solar system's planets are recorded.
