The Black Empowerment Forum panelists addressed the plethora of issues affecting Blacks in Houston.   The forum espoused solutions and ideas to offset community ills. One solution is to create an accountability checklist for political candidates seeking the Black vote and holding elective officials accountable to the proposed agenda. Another suggestion is to fire elective Texas lawmakers; regardless of “creed, color, and party affiliate.” Apparently, Houston Democrat officials will not be riding on the coat-tail of Senator Barak Obama presidential bid. One guest speaker accused Black legislatures of ignoring the Black vote. Even, Bishop Dixon expressed weariness of Democrat legislatures. “We keep voting the same people back in” said Dixon. He also alleged that elective officials has been pimping’ the people. “We been pimped!” Dixon said. The audience applauded to gesture that political-pimping is over. “…there are some Black officials that’s not carrying our agenda” said one guest speaker…”They are carrying other folk’s agendas.” What is interesting is that the panelists echoed Apostle Claver T. Apostle Claver,

Your announcement last week that Harris County was/has turned blue set me to action.  I called Joan Huffman's campaign office to volunteer to make calls from my home.  Thank the Lord -- she won!  Thank you for the work you're doing!

Joan
