Illegal Fueling Before Toronto Propane Blast: Report
The Technical Standards and Safety Authority of Ontario has released its report on the events leading up to the massive propane explosion in North Toronto. Evidently, the depot was performing a truck-to-truck propane transfer, which is as dangerous as it is illegal.
Direct truck-to-truck propane transfers are illegal because they increase the risk of a gas leak or a fire.
The safety agency also says that in November 2006, Sunrise Propane was warned that it showed a "lack of safety culture or commitment" by not putting an end to the truck-to-truck transfers at the company's facilities.

jordan, I like this story. It's good stuff. It looks like they showed blatant disregard for the safety of the residents. I'm wondering who pays for the asbestos cleanup of those homes affected.
