Hezbollah has accused Israel of orchestrating the killings, according to The New York Times, but details about how he died and who is directly responsible has still not been released.

"Hezbollah did not say how Mr. Mugniyah died but its announcement came hours after the car bombing in Damascus late Tuesday night in which eyewitnesses said a passerby was killed. The bomb was placed under a parked car, which Syrian security officials quickly towed away. They also quickly sealed off the area. The explosion destroyed the targeted car and damaged at least 10 others." (The New York Times)

Hezbollah has announced that tomorrow will be a day of mourning in some parts of South Lebanon, and a mass funeral has also been scheduled for Thursday.

At one point Mr. Mugniyah was one of the world's most wanted men, with a price tag on his head of $25 million.
