Where would the USA be today if the government spent taxpayers money on
improving the life of it's citizens? Instead it is spending 547 billion
dollars, an increase of nearly 60 percent since 2007 on destroying the lives and livelihoods of people -elsewhere - while the US economy falls apart before our very eyes. And, US citizens in the
majority think all of their problems will just go away with the change
of government. They won't, because the military industrial complex has
fundamentally taken over the US government, and the rest of the world
must protect itself by increasing their military spending over managing
the needs of their own citizens. Ramsey Clark is one of America's most
informed leaders. Follow his lead, and the rest of world will support
the American people, because we want America to fulfill it's dream of
life, liberty, and happiness for all!

Impeachment is not a political question. Impeachment is a constitutional duty. It is the one power and highest duty the Constitution rests in the Congress to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States when the President, Vice President, and other civil officers of the United States commit treason, bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors.

George Bush has deliberately, falsely and systematically mislead the Congress and the American people concerning the most criminal, costly and harmful acts of his administration, leading us to war, tragic loss of human life, the devastation of Iraq, military expenses reaching trillions of dollars, disruption of the economy that will take decades to overcome, a contemptuous assault on the Bill of Rights, an international humanitarian disaster, deliberate antagonism and provocation of nations and people, most once friendly, and an enlarging assault on the earth's environment.

On June 5, 2008, a long delayed five year U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence study and 170-page report unanimously found President Bush, Vice President Cheney and other top officers had made false charges and systematically presented a more dire picture about Iraq than justified by intelligence provided only to them. The Committee included both Democrats and Republicans.

Today President Bush is exerting all his power and influence to repeatedly urge Europe, Israel and others to support an attack on Iran which he intends to commence in the remaining months of the presidency. Iran is larger than Iraq and Afghanistan, has millions of people, richer by a multiple, unimpaired by recent war and will fight fiercely if attacked. He is negotiating a permanent U.S. military presence in Iraq placing the U.S. on Iran's border.

The next several Presidents of the United States will spend their time in office miserably fighting wars started by Bush, as our economy is consumed in military spending.

Impeachment, a Constitutional duty, is the only way to prevent George W. Bush and his cabal from vastly enlarging the disastrous wars he has already inflicted on the world and the American people. The House of Representatives must quickly consider Bills of Impeachment long overdue, and the Senate must prepare to sit in judgment of President Bush, Vice President Cheney other officers who are implicated.

Maireid Sullivan, I like this story. It's good stuff.

Where was Ramsey Clark when all this was happening? Why didn't he stand up then. It's a little late now. Impeachment? Don't make me laugh. The only impeachment grounds this congress seriously considers are blow jobs.

Very funny, René.

Ramsey Clark was a US Attorney General and served on the Supreme Court.

It must be remembered that he was active in the anti-Vietnam war movement.

And, to answer your question, he spoke out against going to war right after 911.

So he has, indeed, been vocal from the VERY beginning.

Hi Rhonda, thanks for the tic.

Ramsey Clark is a far left-wing flake who defends thugs, terrorists and murderers.  The US has nothing to apologize for.  We spend billions and soldiers lives to keep the oil flowing so that the rest of the world will not implode, and we are first on the scene with massive aid when disaster strikes.  Lay off the anti USA propaganda and all the griping that basically stems from envy.

I'm sorry if the facts challenge your 'preferred' view of the role of the US in the world.

According to your last census, only 97% of American's have passports, so my guess is that 97% don't really have any idea of the true impact of US foreign policy - and it's broad agenda. And, I remember the words on that priceless poster seen on walls across the States: "Join the Army. See the World. Meat beautiful people and kill them."

That said, anyone who has read US history knows that the ideal of the American Founding Fathers was beautiful, still, today, unlike other first-world nations, more than a third of the US population is living in dire poverty without welfare support, and the US economy is leading the way into a depression deeper than the 30s. My heart bleeds for the innocent good people of America who have long suffered at the hands of profiteers, pirates, predators, pushers and the rest.

When history is written, it will show that President Bush's vision, determination and courage made him the man who saved western civilization from the Islamic butchers who wished to reestablish the caliphate and impose Sharia on the rest of us.  He was reelected in 2004 in the middle of the Iraq War in the only poll that counts.  Our homeland has not been attacked again since 9/11, to our amazement, and it has been President Bush's policies that have kept us safe.  I can understand and deal with the ultra-left radicals in this country, who are basically anarchists who complain about everything, but it takes a peculiar combination of arrogance and ignorance for an Australian to call for the impeachment of the leader of another country which has been a traditional, strong ally.

Hi Joellerose,

I'm not sure if I can satisfactorily respond to the several points you raise in a short space of time.

I'll just make a little list to share with your for further discussion.

First, here is a link to a short video my journalist Kevin Sites, about his return to the USA after his year-long tour of war zones on behalf of Yahoo news: http://hotzone.yahoo.com/b/hotzone/blogs75032

2nd, I believe talk of a threat from Islam is pure propaganda. Christian, Jewish and Islamic religions have the same roots.

3rd, re. being an Australian ally of the USA, this doesn't require me to agree with everything the US is doing. I am concerned for the future of America. (I hold US Citizenship
too, but that is not important - non-citizens are just as worried - actually maybe even more - because, perhaps, they weren't born into the exceptionally fortunate US Baby boomer generation.)
I just don't want to see all the good that America
stands for in decline due to gross mismanagement, to put it very mildly.

In my mind's eye, I see the USA as one part of the world community of peoples. Every country has a distinct national personality. ...wonderful really. And, the USA national personality is wonderful. I dearly love many, many highly creative and intelligent citizens (including family) of the USA.

The very same predators who are eating away at the heart of the USA, are eating away just as ferociously in every other country on the planet too. E.g. Halliburton is economically and politically "entrenched" in AU!

...and, Rupert Murdoch is an Australian!

Basically, I think it comes down to evolution. Not all humans are working on evolving their higher capacities. There are still too many people who think only of enriching themselves, and when these people are in positions of power, well, we know the saying, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." This is what we are up against. It will not be easy to 'upgrade' the operating system we are living in at this time, but we must and we will be forced to make huge changes sooner or later.

For the quickest and most dramatic insight into the workings of the human brain, I recommend taking a look at Harvard neuroanatomist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor's lecture on http://www.ted.com

The brain is evolving. We are increasing our communication skills – our intellectual power combined with our capacity for compassion and love and all the good things that everyone wants in their lives - peace!

4th, I almost forgot: In the USA the word "Liberal" has a very different application. Here in AU, it represents the most conservative political party. :)

I prefer to define Liberal in terms of the liberal, performing and visual arts:

Here is my definition, taken from this page: http://www.globalartscollective.org/definitions.htm

Defining the Arts

The arts contribute to the development of our sense of identity, both as individuals and as members of society, and galvanize community engagement and participation on issues that impact the quality of life for everyone.

The place of the arts in establishing vibrant communities is now widely understood. Arts practitioners have a key role in envisioning, designing and presenting creative and imaginative propositions to the public realm.

The Global Arts Collective is a gathering of liberal, performing and visual artists dedicated to working for a better world.

Liberal arts include languages, literature, history, philosophy, mathematics, law, science, music, and interdisciplinary arts such as architecture and the healing arts, and includes poets, writers, genealogists, lore and tradition bearers.

Performing arts include theatre, film, drama, comedy, music, dance, opera, magic, etc. and includes actors, comedians, singers, storytellers, public speakers, dancers and musicians.

Visual arts include the fine arts of painting, sculpture, photography, film, applied art, craft which includes ceramics, jewelry making, and others, that focus on the creation of artworks which are primarily visual in nature.

Maireid Sullivan, I like this story. It's good stuff. Actually, it was the Green Party of the USA that proposed impeachment as far back as 2003. It is now receiving publicity. As for the USA preventing the rest of the world from imploding, maybe we should take care of America first.

0
Maireid Sullivan

Right on, Alvarez!

I've heard talk of impeachment for what seems like a very long time. I am truly amazed that so many US citizens continue to 'bury their heads in the sand' in their effort to ignore the sins of the current executive branch. Perhaps it's because they have been getting away with it for so long! But look at the sorry state of the planet under the US "super power" leadership!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: National borders don't keep out the predators. They have got the US population eating out of their hands. ..and with the state of US big pharma and big agri biz, that is literal.

0
René

Well said, but don't believe any Americans have their heads buried in the sand. Between the deception by the media in misinforming the public, and the hinky election process, with all the bad stuff, we are trying. Still hoping the election process will work for a change, but with no legal changes from Congress, it is just a hope.

0
joellerose

Rene, I don't know why you say you hope the election process will work for a change; it has worked as the Constitution specifies in every election since 1960, when the Chicago machine stole the election from Nixon.  If you are referring to Florida in 2000, 12 separate investigations by major newspapers (including the NY Times) confirmed that Bush won the popular vote there.  "Selected, not elected" is just a propaganda cry being uttered by juveniles who didn't get what they wanted.

0
René

The American people are hoping. Guess you haven't seen the info about who owned the company that counted the votes there. Undoubtedly you would be surprised how much I agree with many of your views. Personally I have no faith in these election machines that can be so easily subverted/hacked.

And with respect to the ridiculous description of the state of the USA by Maideid Sullivan, the Wall St Journal has this to say today, "The case that things are basically pretty good? Unemployment is 5.5%, low by historical standards; income is rising slightly ahead of inflation; housing prices are down, but the typical house is still worth a third more than in 2000; 94% of Americans do not have threatened mortgages, and of those who do, most will keep their homes.

Inflation was up in 2007, but this stands out because the 16 previous years were close to inflation-free; living standards are the highest they have ever been, including living standards for the middle class and for the poor.

All forms of pollution other than greenhouse gases are in decline; cancer, heart disease and stroke incidence are declining; crime is in a long-term cycle of significant decline; education levels are at all-time highs.....

Whatever goes wrong in the country or around the world is telecast 24/7, making us think the world is falling to pieces – even when most things are getting better for most people, even in developing nations. If a factory closes, that's news. If a factory opens, that's not a story. You've heard about the factories Ford and General Motors have closed in this decade. Have you heard about the factories Toyota, Honda and other automakers opened in the U.S. in the same period? The jobs there have solid, long-term prospects.

The relentlessly negative impressions of American life presented by the media, including the entertainment media, explain something otherwise puzzling that shows up in psychological data. When asked about the country's economy, schools, health care or community spirit, Americans tell pollsters the situation is dreadful. But when asked about their own jobs, schools, doctors and communities, people tell pollsters the situation is good. Our impressions of ourselves and our neighbors come from personal experience. Our impressions of the nation as a whole come from the media and from political blather, which both exaggerate the negative."

Let me pick out just one point in this argument, taken from Murdoch's Wall St. Journal.

US unemployment figures do not reflect the actual number of unemployed in the USA. They are based on unemployment benefit payments. And, did you know that unemployment benefits are a short term measure in the USA?  They can be collected for a short term of around 3 months. That means unemployed people no longer eligible for the benefits are not counted  as unemployed.

Maireid, anyone tempted to be moved by this last point of yours should first look up the meaning of pettifoggery.

0
Maireid Sullivan

I don't see this as a "petty" argument. I see it as an opportunity to communicate, with all due respect, on important matters, - and the facts need to be correct.

Maireid Sullivan, American has the right & needs to proceed with IMPEACHMENT HEARINGS for both President George W. Bush & Vice President Richard B. Cheney. The damage these men have cause needs to be stop before the election of our next President & Vice President. While they are still in power of this nation (United States Of America) they can and I am sure will use what ever means possible to bring this nation to it knees before they are done with there terms as "elected officials" by the American people who should demand this "IMPEACHMENT" by their congress person who represents them in congress.

Here is the speech by U.S. Senator Sheldon of Rhode Island of 6.05.2008 on this matter of The Iraq War & the Lies by these men who cost our country 4,000 Death and 25,000 Injured solder in Iraq at this point in time. At a cost of $529,094,731,343.00 and continually rising.

The video from the daily show, show how our country media portrays the monarchy of corporate and political control without the citizens lack of questioning what many are unaware of what is really going on in this country. If it is not the media who is to tell the American citizen of these things then it's up to the people to learn  that the media of this country is no better at lying to the American public then the current administration did on the Iraq War.

IMPEACH CHENEY 1ST, THEN BUSH

Yes I am an American and I want Justice for the crimes these men have done to the american people and there country let alone what they have done to the world.

Hello Everchanging, thanks for posting those videos to the story.

I've already watched them, and also found this video with Bill Moyers to be informative:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_2IZT4VgDY

I've also watched the Kucinich videos.

Have you seen the EU articles on 'recovering' from the Bush era? I posted a couple of good ones over the last two days.

Hello again, everchanging, thank you very much for posting this document. I'll set some time aside to read through it.

Maireid, your welcome.

In truth it is you who I need to thank and others like you, who bring these issues to light. I am happy it is getting known. Now it has to be known by the american public and if not by major media then by the commentaries, bloggers and other media outlets of America and the world who are willing, able and ready to let it be known and get the information to those that need to know.

If we give up the fight to impeach them now, then we have lost the right to freedom of speech. Because there will be others in the future who will follow in these people foot step, once they know someone else has gotten away with these kinds of acts, crimes and lies. No CEO of any company or corporation would survive this if the board members found out or have they?
