I have to admit that I get a lot of material from reading FoxNews.

They are conducting a survey in which they have biased the instrument by highlighting Medicare and Medicaid. That isn’t right.

However, I am going to rank my opinion from most important to least with reasons for each. Here goes.

Deficit and government spending – as a topic of general and overall concern. The job of president is to Maximize Gross Domestic Product by Optimizing Return on National Resources. Quote me if you repeat that – YankeeJim, James A. George © 2011 All Rights Reserved.

Social Security – the long and encompassing definition. The nation exists to 1) provide for the common defense and 2) so that the president can maximize GDP through optimization so that 3) the nation can afford to take care of all its citizens in a fair and equitable manner each to his own abilities.

Therefore, Social Security, Healthcare, Medicare, and Medicaid are essential services for those who need it. Not everyone has the same set of needs. That is why we need means testing to scale the benefits accordingly.

We can’t accomplish 1, 2, and 3 if the nation isn’t secure, therefore providing for the common defense, including securing borders and fighting terrorism are the next priority. FoxNews omitted “providing for the common defense.” Was that a trick?

Continuing wars that are not necessary such as Afghanistan and Iraq are undermining everything else.

High gas prices are a symptom. The problem is the nation’s continued dependence on foreign oil. Becoming energy dependent should be a high national priority as it is the hinge pin to all of the above.
