The 21 star flag was the official flag of the United States during 1819. This was the flag when Illinois was added to the union. Obama was from Illinois and I gather that's the connection.

The Betsy Ross flag was the first official US flag and the Old Glory is well, Old Glory.
That's only my opinion.
