Politisite that Executions in Iran have increased to an alarming
level of 36 since the beginning of 2008. "We join the
international community in expressing concern about the increase in
executions in Iran", Thirty-six executions have been reported
in the Iranian and international press since January 1, 2008. The

Iranian regime to adhere to its international obligations and
commitments and offer all defendants fair and transparent trials.

politisite, it's funny a friend of mine who is Iranian , but prefers to be called Persain, says the religious police who harass everyone are pretty much non existant in the Wealthy Northern suburbs of Iran, the northern part of Iran being, the most affluent, BMW's, Big Homes, great shopping malls , western dress and even has Jewish inhabitants who are allowed to practise their religion do not seem to suffer the same afflictions with the poorer southern part of Iran where these executions are regular occurences. Perhaps Money does talk and BullSh*t walks when justice for all is for those who can pay. But then the poorer sections in the south, illiterate pretty much kowtow to what the government says and suffer harrassment by the Church police. If anyone in Now Public an expat from Iran reads this, perhaps they too can verify all this as well. It would be nice to hear their perspectives. It seems Religion and Government in Iran rule only the poor.

Your welcome Politisite, the same system ruled Iraq when Saddam was in power, pretty much the gamut of religions lived in peace, from wealthy Jews, Islamics to Catholics, once the Iraq war hit, then the poorer Iraqis hit the wealthy neighbourhoods and ransacked and murdered anyone who was wealthy and not of the same faith. This info came from Iraqi Jews and Catholics who lived there. France pretty much did the same thing in the 17th century as did the Russians in the 19th century, the poor want what you have, and since the poor make up the majority of these countries, they are easily mandable by the government's powers to be who need troops for cannon fodder. Of course the poor overlook their government leaders who also live in opulent surrounding, while Government leaders such as in the US elections state when visiting the poor state "I feel your pain, as I am just like you" except "I am Rich Beeyatch" .

I think it is a big issue to look at before we wish to war with another country. The dynamics are important. We did't concider that when we descided to invade Iraq. We wre told we would be met with a heros welcome. We should have concidered that an occupation would be looked at as a desire to take land and resources. I was in favor of the invasion. No matter what moonwolf says, Sadaam killed many hundreds of thousands of people. Even though we didn't find WMD he still had a desire in the near future to reassemble his program as soon as the heat was off. It is very easy for the US to invade and win a ground war. Our problem is keeping and leaving a warzone. Look a Germany, Korea. why cant we leave? That will be the same problem with Iraq. Do you think Democrats will get us out? It aint going to happen.
