Iron Mill News Service

February 6, 2008 - (Washington) - Sean
McCormack spokesman for the United States Department of state tells
Politisite that Executions in Iran have increased to an alarming
level of 36 since the beginning of 2008. "We join the
international community in expressing concern about the increase in
executions in Iran", Thirty-six executions have been reported
in the Iranian and international press since January 1, 2008. The
spokesman said, " We are troubled that individuals are being
sentenced to death, including by stoning, for crimes that do not meet
the standards outlined in the International Covenant for Civil and
Political Rights, which Iran has ratified".

The State Department is urging the
Iranian regime to adhere to its international obligations and
commitments and offer all defendants fair and transparent trials.

Good stuff?  This is more pandering and war-mongering and nothing more.

Silver first and then Gold is the way I am buying! These people that have hijacked our government are NUTS!

In the propaganda run up to a possible unprovoked attack on Iran before the Bush leaves office this is all part of the propaganda package.  Let's see now.  935 verifiable bald-faced lies from this administration and the vaunted State Department leading to illegal wars and millions of unwarranted corpses but now we're supposed to believe this bellicose rumination.

This story taken out of the context of everything else is just more demonization so that Americans will be OK with more hundreds of thousands of innocent lives being snuffed at the alter of delusional psychopathic US militarism.

Does the State Department hack mention that the Iranian government has ended public executions in the last two weeks; that they now conduct them behind closed doors just like the USA?

So ask yourself:  Where are there more people incarcerated and more executions based on population Iran or the USA?

The USA hands down!  In fact there are more people in prisons in the USA, per capita than in any other country including China and the Soviet Union.  Prison is one of your largest growth industries, and the lions share are there for non-violent crimes.

Oh, and I just love the part about the "fair and transparent trials" admonishment from these jackals!  If it wasn't such blatant hypocrisy I would be giddy with the humour!  How about Guantanamo hmmm?  How about secret CIA prisons and rendition?"

We hope Bush, Cheney, Condoleeza and all these State Department vermin get a fair trial too.

I honestly can't believe intelligent Americans could be gullible enough to buy into this.

Mountaineer

You are SPOT ON!!!! and kinda cute!

politisite

Moonwolf, I am reporting the news not taking a position.  If you notice I report both positive and negitive items on both sides.  I don't speak for th goverment nor do I have talkng points from the administration.  This is news not propaganda as I have no particular agenda or secondary gain from writing this item.

good stuff:

politisite, it's funny a friend of mine who is Iranian , but prefers to be called Persain, says the religious police who harass everyone are pretty much non existant in the Wealthy Northern suburbs of Iran, the northern part of Iran being, the most affluent, BMW's, Big Homes, great shopping malls , western dress and even has Jewish inhabitants who are allowed to practise their religion do not seem to suffer the same afflictions with the poorer southern part of Iran where these executions are regular occurences. Perhaps Money does talk and BullSh*t walks when justice for all is for those who can pay. But then the poorer sections in the south, illiterate pretty much kowtow to what the government says and suffer harrassment by the Church police.  If anyone in Now Public an expat from Iran reads this, perhaps they too can verify all this as well. It would be nice to hear their perspectives. It seems Religion and Government in Iran rule only the poor.

politisite

BarryA: Thanks for your insight into this story.

Barry Artiste

Your welcome Politisite, the same system ruled Iraq when Saddam was in power, pretty much the gamut of religions lived in peace, from wealthy Jews, Islamics to Catholics, once the Iraq war hit, then the poorer Iraqis hit the wealthy neighbourhoods and ransacked and murdered anyone who was wealthy and not of the same faith.  This info came from Iraqi Jews and Catholics who lived there.  France pretty much did the same thing in the 17th century as did the Russians in the 19th century, the poor want what you have, and since the poor make up the majority of these countries, they are easily mandable by the government's powers to be who need troops for cannon fodder. Of course the poor overlook their government leaders who also live in opulent surrounding, while Government leaders such as in the US elections state when visiting the poor state "I feel your pain, as I am just like you" except "I am Rich Beeyatch"  .

moonwolf

Sounds like the difference between East L.A. and Beverly Hills doesn't it?

politisite

I think it is a big issue to look at before we wish to war with another country.  The dynamics are important. We did't concider that when we descided to invade Iraq. We wre told we would be met with a heros welcome.  We should have concidered that an occupation would be looked at as a desire to take land and resources.  I was in favor of the invasion.  No matter what moonwolf says, Sadaam killed many hundreds of thousands of people.  Even though we didn't find WMD he still had a desire in the near future to reassemble his program as soon as the heat was off.  It is very easy for the US to invade and win a ground war.  Our problem is keeping and leaving a warzone.  Look a Germany, Korea.  why cant we leave?  That will be the same problem with Iraq.  Do you think Democrats will get us out?  It aint going to happen.

moonwolf

How about considering that the considerations you bring up are totally invalid and they speak to a national  lunacy?

How about considering that your country has no right to attack anyone, or any country unless that country has attacked you; that by international law starting a war against another country is the highest crime possible?

You aren't the morality police for the whole planet, specially considering the total lack of any real morality in the USA, and the arrogance and self-absorption of thinking you have rights above any other country or group is what makes your country a failed terrorist state hated by all outside your borders.

We, and by that I mean all global citizens, don't want your pathetic "help", read death and destruction, and just want you to leave us all alone so that we can find another way of dealing with our challenges rather than your country's psychopathic fascist invasions and occupations.

Soon your little empire will collapse under the weight of its own psychosis and none of us will raise a finger to save you or help when it does.  Your country is far too dangerous so we will let the chips fall where they may.

On behalf of the lives of the tens of thousands of innocents your military and corporations have not taken yet, and for the future viability of the biosphere and the human race we can only pray that the fall of the USA will be soon and very, very hard.

Here is a great article from the Cleveland Jewish News that will shed some light on this tawdry and blatantly obvious situation.

Barry Artiste

Well Moon, my friend, the US will not invade Iran, aint gonna happen, there will be a lot of huffing and puffing by the US and that is about it.

moonwolf

We'll see Barry, we'll see.

Barry Artiste

I am certain of it Moon, Iran just doesn't have any natural resources the US wants? Unless "Sand" just hit Record Levels in the stockmarket.

Barry Artiste

I am certain of it Moon, Iran just doesn't have as much oil and gas natural resources the US wants? Unless "Sand" just hit Record Levels in the stockmarket.  And as Russia borders Iran, the US learned their lesson on Iraq to try this with Iran, much less piss of Russian soveriegnty,.
