India - Girl burnt alive in Ghaziabad over suspected affair
Very few of such incidents come out in the media mostly because of the social stigma attached and the ultra - conservative nature of certain sections of Indian society.
A classical example of society's intrusion to the individual privacy and how so called "moral terrorism" which is refusing to die tries to dictate how people should live. It is alarming to the civilized world that even in progressing societies like that of India, such atrocities happens in the broad day light.
It would be better if Indian wake up and get ready for more such nightmares.
A 16-year-old girl was allegedly burnt alive, on Monday afternoon, by four residents of her village in a case of "aggressive moral policing," as they suspected she had a physical relationship with one Irfan of the village.
The girl later succumbed to her injuries in a Modinagar hospital.
According to district police chief, Akhil Kumar, Zalis, Asim, Azim and another village resident had been keeping a watch on the girl's house, in Teori village, in the Bhojpur police station area. They thought one Irfan of the village was a frequent visitor to the girl's house when her father was not at work.

Horrific and despicable, this so called honor killing is prevalent in many women repressive societies of the world.
Many Muslim and Sikh women have been murdered by family members and other vigilantes even in UK.
Normally these kind of killings happen when the alleged relationship is between different faiths.
In Pakistan and India countless women are burned alive, shot or knifed for dowry and family honor.
Here the culprits were Muslims and the they have committed the most heinous crime that is to burn someone in terms of Islam
Once again you will find me trying to defend Islam, but just for my satisfaction I would like to point out the Islamic view about adultery acquisition.
Islam takes the adultery acquisition really seriously and strictly forbids from speculating or accusing without proof of 5 eye witnesses. It makes it almost impossible unless the pre-marital sex is committed in full public view.
Islam goes as far as condemning and forbidding even ears dropping or spying on someone if the said act is being done behind closed doors. if someone finds that someone is trying to spy on him in his own property he is free to poke his eye out. That is the extent that Islam goes about protecting and respecting privacy, and just like the modern courts, evidence gathered through unlawful means wont be accepted.
To me this sad episode looks like a typical subcontinent story where the girl shuns the advances of some street/ village loafers who first spread roamers about her character and then go as far as killing her. In all such cases the woman is a normally a widower or of a weak and poor family.
I hope the Indian authorities make such an example of these murderers that no one ever dares to even think of such barbarity.
May her soul rest in peace .. Amen
