Barak Obama is right when he says all nations have the right to protect themselves........but how long we are going to continue fighting , is there any end of this hatred and related violence.

Sovereign nations have the right to protect themselves, US president-elect Barack Obama said on Monday, when asked if India could follow

the same policy he advocated during his election campaign — of bombing terrorist camps in Pakistan if there was actionable evidence and Islamabad refused to act on it.

Although Obama said he did not want to comment on the specific situation involving India and Pakistan, his tacit endorsement of New Delhi adopting the same policy was circumscribed by two caveats: first, let the investigators reach definite conclusions about the Mumbai carnage, and second, see if Pakistan will follow through with its commitment to cooperate in eliminating terrorism.

''My administration will remain steadfast in support of India’s effort to catch perpetrators and bring them to justice. I expect the world community will feel the same way,'' Obama said, in one of several references to the events in Mumbai that underscored the roll-out of his national security team in Chicago on Monday.

As expected, Obama named Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, and retired marine General James Jones as National Security Advisor, in addition to retaining Robert Gates as Defense Secretary, among the three principals of his administration.

The second tier of the national security team he introduced included Eric Holder as Attorney-General, Janet Napolitano as Secretary of Homeland Security, and Susan Rice as the U.S ambassador to United Nations.

In fact, Obama disclosed that the Mumbai massacre topped the agenda of the new national security team at its first meeting Monday morning ahead of the public roll-out. ''This morning, we met to discuss the situation in Mumbai and some of the challenges that we face in the months and years ahead,'' he revealed, indicating that the South Asia crisis would be among the first issues to occupy his administration as it takes office.

The president-elect referred repeatedly to the tragedy at his press conference and said he had spoken to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to tell him that the United States is with India in this dark hour. ''In the world we seek, there is no place for those who kill innocent civilians to advance hateful extremism. And I am confident that India’s great democracy is more resilient than killers who would tear it down,'' he said.

Obama reiterated his stand that there was only one president at a time in the U.S as he trod a delicate line in setting any new policy. But he appreciated the actions taken by the Bush administration and keeping him informed about it. ''What I can say unequivocally is that both myself and my team are absolutely committed to eliminating terrorism,'' he said. ''We cannot tolerate attacks based on twisted ideology of hate...we will bring the full force of our military, economic and diplomatic power to defeat this. I will be monitoring the situation closely.''

This strategy of sailing weapons to these countries and provoking to continiously fight is not going to help.Mr Obama is speaking the language of Bush, He regrated about Iraqi misadventure after destroying the territory.Hope Mr Obama will learn some lesson from past and start building confidence amongst the waring country.

As the time passes, the evidences are pointing to involvement of the US, Israel and India in Mumbai attacks. What about India attack Tel Aviv or Washington or for that matter New Delhi? The enmity of the three above-mentioned countries is becoming clearer with the every passing day. However, it would not so easy to attack Pakistan as is being thought by New Delhi, Tel Aviv and Washington because world is slowly coming to know the facts about the Mumbai terror drama. Even Indian media and writers are raising questions that should be answered before threatening Pakistan. For example, following facts have been revealed and questions raised by an Indian writer:

In a telephone interview with CBC News from outside the Center (Nariman House), freelance journalists Arun Asthana said that there are reports that some of the militants had stayed at a guest house there (Nariman House) for upto 15 days before the attack. "They had a huge mass of ammunition, arms and food there", Asthana said. Now other reports have also confirmed that a huge mass of food was ordered by the residents of the Nariman House. This food was enough for 30-40 people for several days. Why was this amount of food ordered? Also why was Nariman House not assaulted till the very last? A Gujarati Hindu resident of Mumbai came onto TV on CNN-IBN to say at around 3.30 AM or so, that for two months suspicious activities wree going in Nariman House. A lot of foreigners were seen coming in and going out. This matter was reported to the Police. But no one took action. The CNN-IBN did not repeat the news; then it was only when the common people of Mumbai threatened to storm the Nariman House the NSG commandos were moved in--why this delay in assaulting Nariman House when only two terrorists were holed in there? This is sheer official complicity and nothing else--AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE WHOLE NARIMAN HOUSE AFFAIR IS A MUST.

War is for the weak. It is a dead-brainer activity. Strong character, will and determination is needed to root out terrorism. War is no answer to end terrorism.

But Mumbai attack does not seem terrorism, rather it seems a conspiracy. So it is up to the Indian people to hold the conspirators accountable.

conspiracy or watever, it can completely be termed TERRORISM. any doubts Mr. Hussain.

So you don't want to fathom the truth but just malign and terrorise Muslims and Pakistan. A VERY GOOD approach.

hussain, you have been interpreting it wrong. my approach was never to malign Muslims and Pakistan. if you can check out all the comments that i made you can derive my true approach. however, you cannot say that what happened in Mumbai was not TERRORISM but a CONSPIRACY. it could have been a conspiracy, but can very well be termed terrorism too. and here i had not mentione Muslims. you are simply dragging in things not intended. Please do not add FUEL to this sensitive issue.

how long we are going to continue fighting
. . . the sun will grow large and consume the inner planets including earth in about 5 billion years.  How much is that?  5 lakh lakh years?  Whatever, that's when the fighting will end.
