India is the largest democracy in the world. They’ve got several hundred languages, they’ve got every major world religion in residence and originated four of them; they are multi-cultural and multi-ethnic, with a male Prime Minister of the minority Sikh religion and a female President. This is a kaleidoscope of people, all very proud of their individual cultures, and yet also very proud that they are one nation under one flag. This is the land held up as proof that no matter how large, how populated, and how diverse a country may be, democracy works for everyone; democracy protects everyone. So what the hell is going wrong now?

I think this paragraph that calls itself an article is shallow and fails to give any decent or thoughtful analysis of what has occurred! I don't know who 'groundviews' are but they need to be a bit more intelligent about their rantings. The Indian intelligence apparatus is at present being re-organised. It is quite difficult to get on top of all the groups that might be organising terror attacks in different places in India. It took us Brits a long time to get our act together (and we had a huge amount of experience in tackling the Northern Ireland conflict before the bombing of the London Underground).
It is also possible that this is a new tactic by Bin Laden type cells, now that London and New York are so much more difficult for terrorist groups to penetrate. The British intelligence apparatus reckons it has foiled many terrorist attempts this year through smart intelligence. That takes a lot of time to build up! But the Indian military have been brilliant in tackling the terrorists and stunning them today.
My only criticism of India's handling of the situation has been the way the PM has blamed 'outside forces', ie Pakistan.

It would show your audience some respect if you took the time explain your title and the relevance of Sri Lanka to what is occurring in India. Ive looked at the groundsview article and the rest of it is rather more relevant and interesting than the paragraph that you have quoted. The writer later on explains that India needs to learn the lessons of their disastrous use of Indian tropps there at the time of Premadasa. You dont even hint at this in your title. So what is going on?

good article but is this answer to whatever wrong is happening in the country no country is perfect so should any group pick up arms to ratify that.

Hum, You write a couple of phrases of your own, like in an intro, break the excerpt up and comment and a conclusion in your own words would be great.

gerrypopplestone, it would show the contributors some respect if you took the time out to read the full article without arriving at ill-informed conclusions. The title is not mine, but the author's. Significant problems of web literacy and English comprehension, I fear, need to be addressed in other fora and by other means.
Pashen, the objective of the Highlight tool as I understand it and have used it in the past is to, as the tool's name suggests, highlight a section of an article and post it on the site which automatically links to the full version. I have sadly no time to re-package content highlighted.
