India has tested indigenously developed interceptor missile , that is intended to destroy incoming ballistic missile at an altitude of 80 kms. This shall provide protection against Pakistani and Chinese missiles. This missile is developed by the Indian defense organization DRDO. This test is conducted on a modified version of "Dhanush" surface-to-surface missile that fired from a naval ship that stimulated the terminal phase of the flight of a ballistic missile with the range of 1500 kms. similar to Pakistan's ghori missile.

This ballistic missile design has drawn inspiration from similar US and Israeli missile defense systems.

DRDO spokesman K. Santhanam said that this test will provide the base of developing an efficient missile intercept system which can deal with both nuclear and conventional warhead carrying enemy missiles.

Hi, thanks Cypresso. I am not well versed with the defence terminology. So I have written down most of the commentary from the video link in this article. I hope everyone in NP would forgive me for that :-).

But  yeah..it is an exciting story for me. The DRDO occupies lot of real-estate inside Bangalore city. It is a thrilling thought that maybe one of those guys with who I do my daily shopping would have designed some part of this missile or  some other indegeniously developed product.

Wow..!
