New York: In a bizarre blunder, Indian External Affairs Minister Mr. S M Krishna has read the speech of the Portugal Minister at the Security Council meeting of the United Nations here on Saturday.

As the first few paragraphs of the Portuguese minister dealt only with the United Nations, its development, security and other general issues, the minister did not notice the difference. However, when the speech expressed happiness about two Portuguese language speaking member countries Brazil and Portugal being present at the meeting, the minister was taken aback. Indian Diplomat Hardip Puri noticed that the speech copy of the Portuguese some how went into the hands of the Indian minister and brought the matter to his notice. He then switched the copies and Krishna continued his speech. The Portuguese minister has completed his speech earlier.

Meanwhile, opposition BJP leader Mr. Venkaiah Naidu has said that Mr. Krishna has brought disgrace to India by reading the speech of the minister of some other country.
