Indian stock markets end positive, last week's gains continue

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex closed the day with a gain of nearly 258 points on good buying support in metal, banking and consumer durable counters.The 30-share Sensex advanced by 258.13 points, or 1.57%, at 16,739.33 to end the day.The index touched the day’s high of 16,778.69 and a low of 16,611.41 points.The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose also by 78.60 points at 5,037. It touched the day’s high of 5,053.40 and a low of 4,955.90 points, as the index heaviest Reliance Industries was volatile and recorded handsome gains after it formed a retail partnership with Marks and Spencer Group.
