Indonesian mily chief asks Malaysia to be more sensitive

"We appeal to the Malaysian government and people to be more sensitive to issues that may disrupt harmonious relations between Indonesia and Malaysia," he said at a meeting with Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Dato' Zaenal Abidin bin Muhamad Zain at the TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta.

The military chief said harmonious relations were very helpful to serve the greater interests of the two countries, particularly in resolving all problems arising from their bilateral relations.

He expressed his commitment to fostering the existing good military relations between the two countries in support of cooperation in other fields.

Zaenal Abidin meanwhile said the bilateral relations were of great significance and therefore, the two nations must foster these relations although problems sometimes disturbed them.

He said certain quarters, both in Malaysia and Indonesia, had been trying to disrupt the harmonious relations.

Citing an example, he said certain quarters in Malaysia had claimed that Indonesia`s Rasa Sayange song and Reog Ponorogo tradional dance belonged to Malaysia.

"These things constitute one of the attempts to disrupt the bilateral relations between the two nations," he said.
