Part of mystical folklore for centuries Jinn are not such a great mystery. Much is known about them misleading humanity since the days of Adam. In Islam, Iblis (satan) is not a fallen angel but a rebellious Jinn. Angels dont have free will and follow God without question so could not refuse an order of God (by refusing to kneel to Adam). Adam the first man and Gods first messenger, along with his wife was tempted by satan. Satan (or shaitan) means something different in Islam. In islam shaitan is not one but many with Iblis as the head of the Jinn tribe of shaitan. Think of the other tribe members as demons doing the bidding of Iblis and you wont go far wrong. So what exactly are Jinn? Jinn were made by God after the angels and before human beings and are described in detail in the quran, ( surah [chapter] al Jinn [the Jinn] ) they are Gods other creatures of free will. Jinn are described as being made from the smokeless fire. Many say this means the tips of flames. I believe that it means they are hydrogen based (as are we , humans 85 percent water, water is made from hydrogen and oxygen) as in the sun is on fire but produces no smoke. People that have claimed to have been kidnapped by aliens have reported a strong smell of rotten eggs. Hydrogen sulphide smells like... rotten eggs. Aliens are Jinn pretending to be something else as a deception. Jinn, with the exception of satan, age and die just like human beings but they live much longer than us (2500 years) they marry and have children. They also have different religions. Only the tribe of Iblis are evil. Many other Jinn knelt to Adam. The other Jinn, to a degree, help us against the bad. The wicked whispers of folklore are Jinn, that are invisible to us although they can see human beings. As a muslim I am told to say "Bismilla' (in the name of god) before I do anything, especially eating and drinking. Saying this can help in ridding yourself of bad Jinn.
