Insurance Lobby’s Secret Plan to Attack ‘Sicko’

ALERT: We’ve just been informed that Bill Moyers, on his show later tonight, will expose for the first time the health insurance industry’s secret campaign against Michael Moore and his film, “Sicko.”
It contains a stunning revelation and admission by a top health insurance executive — the former head of publicity for CIGNA, one of the top health insurance companies in the country — that the disinformation and attacks on Michael and the film were extensive and well-planned. Their job was to stop the movie from reaching a wide audience (and, more importantly, from having the widespread political impact the industry feared “Sicko” would have).
Wendell Potter, former Head of Corporate Communications at CIGNA (which provides health insurance to nearly 70 percent of the Fortune 100 companies) admits that, in fact, “Sicko” “hit the nail on the head” and told the real truth about how much better people in other countries have it when it comes to their health care.
The show airs tonight at 9:00 PM on PBS. (Check your local listings for exact times. Many areas show it on Saturday night, too.)

Slightly off-topic - but this showed up both Canadian and UK systems, the French system is far superior!

I've never been a fan of Michael Moore, and there are more things that I would disagree with him on than I would be in agreement with, nor am I a fan of Socialism. But the US "Health" Industry is a MONSTER that is becoming more a detriment to Health than it's champion. Recently it, with the Governments approval (and even Gov't support) attempted to 'demonize' Nutrition, Natural Medicine, Herbs, and Supplements, as well as the Practitioners of the same. I'm sure these areas have their share Quacks, Scams, and 'Snake Oils', but in fairness, we keep seeing recalls of Prescription 'Nostrums' that WERE FDA Approved that were not only not helpful for the symptoms they were perported to alleviate (Most Patented Meds ONLY alleviate symptoms-and do NOT CURE anything...), but actually had side affects WORSE than what they were designed to treat. Since the Industry refuses to change itself from the inside, change from the outside is the only alternative. I'm afraid I find myself in Moore's and Moyer's camp on this one.
