International Defence Exhibition opens in Pakistan amid tight security

Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday inaugurated the Fifth International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS 2008) in the port city of Karachi.

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has inaugurated the 5th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2008) here on Monday.

The five-day IDEAS event at the Karachi Expo Centre is aimed at bringing together local and international arms manufacturers and buyers, and exploring possibilities for cooperation and joint ventures in the field of defence production.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Chief of Naval Staff, Noman Bashir and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majeed attended the inaugural session.

Security has been beefed up with random snap checking, police patrolling, police picketing and strict vigil on mischievous, criminal, suspected and anti-social elements and suspected vehicles. Special passes and stickers have been issued to vehicles entering the Expo Centre.

Self defence yes! War NO! Ironic how it is called defence exhibition and nor War machinery expo.

Yes, you are right but even it is about defence, where is that so-called defence? Americans are killing and maiming people without any resistance. It seems these are being developed mere for using against Pakistan's own people.
