International torch relays banned, Terror Threat Wins
The agenda of terrorist is to spread the fear psychosis and they won an important battle when the Olympic committee banned the international torch relay. Threat of demonstration and propaganda attached to the event attracts world wide media attention. The use of this event by the different group of activist to raise the issue attracts attention.
It right or wrong very tough to say,but surely it will hurt the universal appeal of the Olympic game.
International torch relays ahead of the Olympics have been scrapped by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
It follows the controversy that surrounded the Beijing Olympic relay which was dogged by protests as the torch made its way around the world.
The 2008 relay's London leg was hit by several incidents and criticism over China's 'torch police' security staff.
Organisers of the 2012 London Olympics have already said they had no plans to take the torch outside Britain.
"We have always said the primary focus would be on a domestic torch relay whose main purpose is to excite and inspire the UK in the build-up to the games," said a London 2012 spokeswoman.
"We planned to take our lead from the IOC and are very happy with this decision as it mirrors what we were intending to do."
Instead of representing a symbol of hope and inspiration, the Olympic torch became a magnet for protesters in 2008 en route to Beijing, sparking sometimes violent protests over China's human rights record.

That is too bad that protesters felt they should use this avenue.

Protests are tradition. China just tried to make it a bigger thing to deflect the truth. Too bad China ruins it for the rest of the world. There should be a protest to keep the international torch run.
I 'Saw the Torch' when they came to the French Quarter in New Orleans. It was so thrilling.
Maybe they're afraid of future terrorist attacks, esp in England.

some would say, the is a win for terrorism, personally I think its the loss of another slice of the "freedom pie" in a society which seems to be going backwards.........
