Rescue workers have managed to get nearly two dozen people trapped on a roller coaster that was stuck upside down.

This afternoon, the San Jose fire department received a call saying that  24 people were stuck upside down on board the Invertigo at Great America Amusement Park.

The riders dangled upside down 30 to 70 feet above the ground.

The Invertigo ride features huge loops which take riders upside down six times in a little more than a minute.

A spokesman for Great America said that the ride's "lift chain" malfunctioned, leaving the roller coaster stuck upside down.

No one was injured during the incident.
