IPL 2013 Match 24: CSK vs DD Live Score, DD vs CSK Live Scorecard
Chennai Super Kings opted to bat first after winning the toss at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi on Thursday (April 18).
Both Chennai and Delhi Dardevils had two changes. Michael Hussey returned in place of an injured Dirk Nannes for Chennai, while S Aniruddha also sat out with Mohit Sharma included to keep the team balance right.
Delhi brought in Jeevan Mendis instead of Ben Rohrer, and Ajit Agarkar, who will be playing his first game in the tournament, in place of Ashish Nehra.
Delhi are looking for their first win in the Pepsi Indian Premier League 2013, having come close in five games but not crossed the line yet. Chennai are also coming into the match on the back of a defeat, having gone down by 24 runs to Pune Warriors India at home on April 15.
“It looks like a good wicket, so we’re happy to bat first,” said Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Chennai captain, at the toss. Dhoni hoped his side would learn from the loss against Pune, saying, “The last game wasn’t good for us, I don’t think we played intelligent cricket. But in this format it’s important to forget what happened in the last game, and just keep the learnings from it.”
Mahela Jayawardene, the Delhi captain, emphasised that the spirit in the team was good in spite of the run of defeats, the latest one coming in the Super Over against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday.
“The group is really positive. We know we’ve played some good cricket, but just haven’t been able to finish some matches off. The quality of the team is very good,” said Jayawardene.
Chennai have won two of their four matches in the tournament so far.
