IPL 2013: MI vs RCB Live Score
Mumbai Indians opted to bat first against Royal Challengers Bangalore after Rohit Sharma, the captain, won the toss at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday (April 27).
Both teams are coming off wins, with Bangalore having decimated Pune Warriors India on April 23 by 130 runs after a record-breaking innings by Chris Gayle, who smashed 175 not out in 66 balls. “It’s important to focus on the next game, because a performance like that doesn’t happen in every game,” said Virat Kohli, the Bangalore captain, of Gayle’s innings.
Both teams made one change each, with Dhawal Kulkarni getting his first game of the Pepsi Indian Premier League 2013 for Mumbai, coming in for Yuzvendra Chahal, and J Syed Mohammad replacing Murali Kartik, who was indisposed, in the Bangalore side.
Kohli, who said he was looking to bowl first, described the pitch at the Wankhede as “similar to the one in Bangalore, with good bounce and carry, but it has a little bit more grass.”
This is Rohit’s second match as the Mumbai captain, after he took over from Ricky Ponting in Mumbai’s five-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders on April 24.
Bangalore are on top of the points table with six wins from eight matches. Mumbai have four wins from seven games and a win here will put them into the top half of the points table.
