What would be the equivalent of Israel's numbers over the past 61 years?

Both Iran and Israel are religious states based on a single faith.

Both are extreme at times and radical .

Both commit crimes... Both pursue Nuclear weapons illegally.

And the list goes on...

If Iran is a danger to World peace, then so is Israel and the USA as well as some other here. If Iran is a villain then so is Israel and many others as well that fit the show.

A story such as this list, is an eye opener to say the least!

I have to wonder if those who read this list but still actively speak against Israel as a response, might need to examine if this means that they are either consciously or subconsciously anti-Semitic.

With honest respect for those that have commented - your words remind me of a  wife telling her husband something he has done wrong, only to have the husband twist the entire conversation around on his wife as a hoped-for defense for his own agenda.

It's the equivalent of turning the spotlight from the issue at hand, to the person who brought it out in the open.

Maybe Israel is at fault for some of the same things, but that certainly doesn't negate the enormous truth of this comprehensive list about Iran.

Thank you for this frightening list of truth Tikun - well done!

The world was dead sure of Iraq's WMD's, lead by U.S ,U.N and world's top intel agencies . And now the propoganda war has begun  against Iran..It is calculated. The white corporates have their eyes on Iran's oil and wealth and destruction of yet a nother muslim country. Double whammy. You cant keep fooling.

Swan, that could be taken as an insult and it is the usual rhetoric to defend the State of Israel, same rhetoric's are used by Islamic States when those are criticized or even the US does blame all that critic its politics as anti American, The NAZI did so as well, and BUSH especially was fund of this sort of argument as he said "You are either with us or against us."

Not very mature nor does it help to be objectivity or stay with balanced facts on all sides even less to find the truth.

Paschen

Israel has no constitution either and is portraying it self as a Zionist State. Not an open Multi Cultural Country such as Canada.

Thank You Swan.

Not very mature nor does it help to be objectivity or stay with balanced facts on all sides even less to find the truth."

What? "Balanced" when we're in multiple wars on multiple theaters, with multiple factions and strains of Militant Islam, who are even trying to delegitimize their own Arab and Muslim leaderships?

You want fair and balanced to enter the equation when we're talking about the genocidal regime of Iran, whose goal is world domination--starting with the Middle Eastern peninsula?

Talk about moral equivalency at the most ignorant and lack of critical thought--the use of the term "balance" and "truth" as you've used, are really nothing more than trying to ignore reality.

Actually Israel is NOT a religious State. It is a secular state with a religion shared by many in a wide variety of ways. But this is secular Democratic State with a common history.

What is extreme at times for Israel? Defending itself or taking actions to protect its citizens. Sometimes there are mistakes along the way. That happens unfortunately to the best of countries. You make accusations with no information to back it up. It is irresponsible. This is not a game. There are populations at stake here. Human lives at risk and you so easily make statement that satisfy what in you?

1
tikun

Paschen,

We also need to use some common sense and discrimination. By your own logic you are implying that we make no value judgements and let the "chips fall where they lie"?

What is the truth to you? apparently not the same for others. So now what? An impasse and we put up our hands and say F@## it? Let them kill each other and put our heads in the sand afraid to see clearly what is going with Iran, Syria, Hamas, and  Lebanon as a prisoner and proxy of Syria.?

It is easy speaking from an ivory tower and not getting ones hands dirty. But it really doesnt add anything to the need to heal.

I want the palestinian state to replace the Jewish one, palestinians are semitic. You are a liar and an insult to the laws of moses

1
Paschen

Tikun, You know the anthers and I told this many times yet does any one care to find a solution that would actually be fair?

No, because it would demand some compromises from Israel as well wish it is not willing to make and why it is still refusing the UN peace keepers to enter and help solve the mess as was done in Cyprus as well.

Israel is not interested in peace judging by its action. Or it would have seeded to the UN.

You can not have it both ways. I worked as an NGO in Palestine I know what it is like and your insults of Ivory tower just show how low you are falling.

1
René

No surprise, the 'usual suspects' turn up in an attempt to derail the topic from IRAN.

1
tikun

I am sorry but I disagree. Israel has in fact,TRUTH, compromised with giving up, and up and up and up more land to a new Palestinian State. But it is never enough for a fractured organization that represents conflicting interests.

UN peace keepers are you kidding. Just look at what they have done when the fire gets hot. They run like scared animals. Retreat .. In fact, UN forces  are in the Golan where there are stationed with Israeli permission. I think that seeding as you call it the UN is a death trap. They can't do anything right. I also think that Cypress is a totally different situation.

Ivory tower is not an insult. Just a fact of life. Feelings.Where do they have a place in solving differences. Unless they are everyones but Israels.

Soon I hope that oil will be the least of the worlds troubles. Then Iranian government can drown in its slimy petrochemicals.

You make a good point Swan. :) as you said debate is encouraged on NP, not name calling.

The not mature was directed at the anti-...statements in general though not a personal one.

I agree with you tallison, as is usually the case, there are too many "facts" and not enough truth. Everyone has their own agenda and I for one am not buying it.

buththenagain

Number of times that Iran has invaded anyone in the last 200 years = 0

Cost of the Israeli trying to justify a pre-emptive strike on Iran  = ....could be nuclear armageddon

0
tootrue

That is the truth - if you do but once hold them to the same moral standard insteard of giveing tel aviv some sort ot automatic free pas, then you are so right. If one is guilty then both are. That will sting some to think about it, but until they do there is np prospect for peace.

Neither is 100% right and nor 100% wrong

The Palestinian Arabs already have a state--it's called Jordan.

Good find Tikun, I read this story last week and was saddened and angered--especially b/c it's happening here in California and esp b/c it was the Daniel Pearl's father who wrote it.

Hello Paschen,

I think people know me well enough on Now Public to understand that I'm never out to insult my fellow writers.  I'm sorry that you took it that way.

However Paschen, it is not nice to throw stones at your fellow writers either, calling them names (not mature), in defense of an alternative opinion on a story.

Debate is encouraged on Now Public, not name calling.

Hello Tikun,

Thank you very much for that link - it actually did manage to convince and explain to me that there is a remarkable difference between anti-semitism and being an anti-Zionist.

In truly understanding the difference, I feel that I can judge which stance a person is coming from, when in a conversation about Israel

Thank you!

I agree Tikun that Israel has made some very positive moves in the past and so did the Palestinian as well.

The timing seems to be in matter of speaking the problem at times here. since neither side make those moves a the same time or react positive to the other sides move when given.

When ever Palestine is ready then Israel is not and vice versa...

However, the latest Gaza strike as well the Lebanon war where not helping here at all. Nor did the rejection of Hamas has they where legally elected and ready to deal in a civilized way with the World. They got hit over the head by all.
