Continuing its nuclear ambitions outside the international community regulatory apparatus while poking at the US tiger will result in the unthinkable. The tiger will get out of the cage, and Iran’s program will be eaten alive.

Strike on Iran Becoming More Likely, Former CIA Chief Says

Published July 25, 2010

WASHINGTON -- A former CIA director says military action against Iran now seems more likely because no matter what the U.S. does diplomatically, Tehran keeps pushing ahead with its suspected nuclear program

Michael Hayden, a CIA chief under President George W. Bush, says that during his tenure a strike was "way down the list" of options. But he tells CNN's "State of the Union" that such action now "seems inexorable."

He predicts Iran will build its program to the point where it's just below having an actual weapon. Hayden says that would be as destabilizing to the region as the real thing.

U.S. officials have said military action remains an option if sanctions fail to deter Iran.

Iran says its nuclear work is for peaceful purposes such as power generation.”

C'mon Jim. The Iranian clerics have unequivocally declared nuclear weapons as non-kosher (to mix my religious phrases). The rationale is that a nuclear weapon kills indiscriminately meaning that launching one might kill a few Muslims too. Then note that Iran has never invaded anyone in modern history. They didn't even whack Saddam when he attacked Iran and gassed their people. The USA has no more money left to fight. Iran is not Iraq. It has a population of 55 Million. If you hit Iran you'd better make sure no-one's left coz these people are smart and organised and will wreck a pretty harsh revenge.

I agree. As I have written before, nuclear weapons kill everyone.

However, the sabers are rattling. This is like the time that the US shared their plans to bomb the Japanese and warned them in advance.

The US and allies are afraid that once the Iranians have the bomb(s), they will black mail Europe with the threat of bombing. Having Iran in that position with the likes of the current government is what is untenable.

The choice will be: 1) take out Iran nuclear facilities, or 2) permit Iran to develop a threatening capability.

The world will have another North Korea to live with, but worse: 1) smarter population and 2) close to Europe.

The smarter population has positive and negative value. Positively, maybe the impending threat of an attack will motivate internal change or maybe smarter people will be much harder to deal with. I don't know.

I've met a few Iranians in my dealings in Japan. These people are really goddamn smart. I mean in a hustlin', New York, sense of smart. But they're pretty damn decent too. I read a story that they laugh at Israel's hoarding of nuclear weapons as a huge money waster. It's the weapon no-one can use. It diverts from education, social security, whatever. It's a goddamn hole-in-the ground.

The Iranians could never blackmail anyone with a lousy nuke or two. Someone asked McMullen(?) about Iraq and he responded (paraphrase), "Get real - we could crush these people like a bug". He's right! The US could create "Lake Iran" in an hour. The Iranians know it. No one can ever, ever launch the first nuke.

I wish that the more intelligent Iranians would take charge. Maybe we have many of the smartest ones in the USA already.

The retaliation by Iranians,if attcked by Zinoist  and United States of Aggressors(USA),will entail enormous damaging consequences not only for the region but for the aggressors as well.Iran borders with all the three countries where US is militarily engaged.Iranians are not Iraqis, has yet to get into heads of Sate Department, headed by an over-ambitious lady who knows little about diplomacy and talks both sides of her mouth when referring to Iran or North Korea.

Iran is unlikely to relent and budge from her stand, which is absolutely right and just.Every country has the right to go nuclear, especially in the Middle-East.

I agree that every nation has a right to pursue nuclear energy development, and because of the enormous risk and danger involved affecting the world, there needs to be international regulatory control. If Iran plays by those rules, there should be no problem.

If Iran persists on a track to develop nuclear weapons, that is a different story. Having the US and Russia still working through a stand down is bad enough. Add Pakistan, China, Israel, etc to the mix and this is a complex danger. Iran must stand down militarily. If it does, Iran can earn favored status from everyone.
