Ali Larijani the speaker of the Iranian Parliament told a group of Greek journalists: “The United States new administration should play on a chess board not in a boxing ring”. He said that the US-Iran Relation is not emotional to be solved by rhetoric and we need to see a real change in what we have witnessed so far.  He added that the nuclear issues could be solved by negotiation. At the same time Larijani criticized the double standards that US administration implies in the Middle East.

Larijani represents a moderate conservative who has a close link with the cleric leadership in Iran. His tone towards the new administration, thus repeating, seems to be a cautious wait and see policy by the high rank clerics.
