Iranian President : Speaks of Capitalism's end, lambasts Israel
Iranian President Ahmadinejad had two main currents running through his speech at the UN Assembly in New York City last week:
1. The impending , inevitable end of Capitalism.
2. The impending, ievitable end of the State of Israel.
That he was speaking of these things at a conference which was appointed to encourage tolerance, diversity, diplomacy, and unity did not escape the assembled, and there were many walk outs at the point in his speech in which Ahmadinejad "lambasted" the Jews.
Of course, he was not in fact making racist remarks, but speaking rather of the behavior of the political state of Israel and drawing conclusions; conclusions which have also been drawn by many authors from Great Britain and America. "This is the crisis of the system itself" a financial analyst told the New York Times in 2007. "Israel must learn to take care of herself, and is losing the legitimacy of her own existence, by working against her original purpose and original founding premises" said a British scholar to The London Times after last year's conflict in Gaza. A Huffington Post journalist had asked, "Is this the beginning of the end for Israel?" and noted the analysis of a political expert who believed the NeoCon pursuit in the Mid-East would spell Israel's end. The two-state solution, Ehud Olmert said in 2007, will collapse of its own weight, and when that occurs, it spells the end, the final end, of the state of Israel. A basic conflict exists in the premise, and when the premise is flawed, the structure collapses.
The bird of Minerva only flies at night, runs the old philosophical adage: That which we want to avoid comes on wings to us at dusk; when the light is dimmest, truth is boldest.
Cassandra is the mythical figure, daughter of the leaders of Hecuba and King Priam during the Trojan War, who was dreaded and hated because of her prophetic powers. And this was in fact her curse: She was fated to tell the truth, foretell the future, but never to be believed, and to be cursed and hated for being the messenger of that which people did not want to hear.
As crazy as Ahmadinejad may seem, however much madness in his method, the world stands where he indicates. The underpinnings of the State of Israel, formed in 1948, and of capitalism, have been examined by the best scholars, and been found wanting. We cannot help that we are in a time of transition. If the bell is tolling in some sense for these two, and if the West dreads the sound of these words, and finds them easy to reject because of the insanity or hatefulness of the one who speaks them, will that put off the inevitable?
In the ‘Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful, Praise Be to Allah, the Lord of the “Universe, and peace and blessing be upon our Master and (prophet, Mohammad, and his pure ‘Household, and his noble Companions” “Oh, god, hasten the arrival of Imam fit- Mahdi and grant him good health and victory and make us his followers and those who attest to his rightfulness”Mr. (President, (Excellencies, Ladies and (gentlemen, I thank the Almighty God for granting me, once more, this opportunity to address this important international meeting. I wish to begin by congratulating you, Mr. President, for having assumed the presidency of the 64th Session of the UN General Assembly and wish you all the success. . .
. . . By the grace of God, Marxism is gone. It is now history. The expansionist Capitalism will certainly have the same fate. Because based on the divine traditions referred to as a principle in the Holy Quran, the wrong like the bubbles on the surface of water, will disappear. There remains only what that can be used forever towards the interest of human societies. We must all remain vigilant to prevent the pursuit of colonialist, discriminatory and inhuman goals under the cover of the slogans for change and in new formats.. . .
Here is where he begins to speak on Israel, and where the walkouts begin:
“Following World War II they resorted to military aggression to make an entire nation homeless under the pretext of Jewish suffering,” President Ahmadinejad said at the UN anti-racism summit on Monday.
“And they sent migrants from Europe, the United States and other parts of the world in order to establish a totally racist government in occupied Palestine,” he added.
“And in fact, in compensation for the dire consequences of racism in Europe, they helped bring to power the most cruel and repressive racist regime in Palestine.”
Norwegian Foreign Minster Jonas Gahr Store, who was the first to take the floor after President Ahmadinejad, “strongly rejected the previous speaker’s remarks”.
“Norway will not accept that ‘the odd man out’ kidnaps the efforts of the many,” said the Norwegian foreign minister.
Slovenian ambassador Andrej Logar described the Iranian president’s remarks as “detrimental to the dignity of this conference.”
British ambassador Peter Gooderham for his part condemned President Ahmadinejad’s comments on the establishment of Israel, saying, “Such outrageous anti-Semitic remarks should have no place in a UN anti-racism forum.”
French President Nicolas Sarkozy in a separate statement “totally” condemned the speech, saying it was “an intolerable appeal to racist hate”.
The statement added that Sarkozy “is calling for an extremely firm reaction by the European Union.”
[While President Ahmadinejad’s lambasting of Israel prompted a temporary walkout by certain delegates, it received applause from other delegations that remained seated in the UN assembly hall].

You are not seriously writing a puff piece in the support of Ahmadinejad's behavior. Another in a series of justifying the destruction of the State of Israel and the demonizing of Jews. You are not seriously getting on this bandwagon too. I would think living in New York you would be a little more sophisticated and not buy into the nuances of hate. Sure give Israel all the criticism you want. It is your right. But to try to de-legitimize its existence and use the Iranian President as a tool for your points backed up by all the familiar anti-Israeli faces and rhetoric is pretty transparent. No ONE knows what is inside the mind and heart of this character. All we have is his WORDS and ACTIONS. That should be enough.

Ahmadinejad appears well on his way to becoming just another name on a growing list of losers.
Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia have all tried to eradicate Israel.
Results? Not so good.
Imam fit-Mahdi or no, if Ahmadinejad chooses to go toe-to-toe with Israel, he will find himself with a black eye and a bloody nose.
History has seen many rulers with big heads and grand ambitions......it has seen only one Israel.

No, I think Ahmadinejad is insane for the most part. I have great respect for Jews and for the state of Israel, but believe they have blundered terribly. I am not supporting Ahmadinejad by suggesting that both capitalism and Israel may be in states of decline. It is not anti-semetic to believe that maybe Israel has lost its sense of direction. smkovalinsky

Ahmadinejad is a raving maniac who appears to shoot himself and his country in the foot every time he opens his mouth. He must truly believe that he wields some kind of international power and influence to go before the U.N. and make such a fool of himself.
This time he has gone too far, and the development of the nuclear facilities in secret is his Waterloo and gives the international community concrete reason to intervene now.

The use of interest is forbidden in Judaism, Christianity and Islam, Capitalism could not exist without interest

Curious here, Sputnic. Exactly where, when, and by whom, is it forbidden?
References would be helpful. As you appear the expert, it would be a most wondrous thing, should you share the source of your knowledge on this subject!

Hmmm, so we are to assume that you have direct connections, and can speak with authority for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, on the subject?

The previous writer says interest charge is forbidden by Judaism and that is not true for Jews. Our religion states in book of Moses that we are not allowed to charge interest to one another (our own kin) but with other nations we can charge interest. So, if one Jew charges interest to another Jew it is forbidden. This is what I have learned. The world is upside down these days and the terrorist countries like Iran and Syria are pushing us in a direction of war I fear. They fund the suicide bombers in Iraq. Large terrorist camps are in both countries. (IRan and Syria) They sneak their bombers into Iraq to damage the progress of Iraq. Their war crimes are horrendous but ignored. Iraq has repeatedly asked Syria to stop funding and sending their suicide bombers into Iraq. Syria defiantly ignores Iraq. Instead, Israel which handed over Gaza to the Palestinians in hope it would stop rocket attacks only received more of them after return of Gaza. Then, in self defense they retaliate after 8 years of rocket attacks and are labeled aggressors and not victims.

Didn't Israel take Gaza from the Palestinians too !
at 06:11 on November 15th, 2009
Certainly they did. Several times.
Seems the belligerents surrounding Israel have a difficult time winning wars against the tiny nation. Some of them haven't learned from history either, nor honored the UN Resolution that partitioned Palestine to begin with.
