Some Iranian reformers were reportedly raped in prison with soda bottles and batons.

"Raping of some detainees with a baton and soda bottle has been proven to us," the Parlemannews website quoted the unidentified lawmaker from the investigative committee as saying.

Although Iranian police deny the claims that were made by Mehdi Karoubi who ran for President in the recent election, parliament speaker Ali Larjani has ordered a parliamentary committee to form to learn more about the conditions of detainees. Most prisoners are reformists that protested the results of election on June 12 that brought Islamist President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to power.

Some of the alleged victims are ready to testify as long as they are assured of their safety:

Karoubi, a moderate, had said four people were ready to testify to parliament that they were sexually abused in jail if their security was guaranteed.
