Iraq Troop Deployments To Be Shortened Says President
WASHINGTON, April 10. Iraq troops combat tours are to be reduced to 12 months from 15 months says President George W. Bush today. In a late morning speech Thursday from the White House, the President said he was following the rotation recommendation of General David Petraeus who has spent two day in hearings on Capital Hill. The tour rotation reduction will apply only to troops deployed on or after August 1.
President Bush said "Our nation owes a special thanks to the soldiers and families who have supported this extended deployment."
