Iraq welcomes charges against Blackwater guards by reno_fog

The "Contractors" known as Blackwater have been a sad representive of the United States from the time the company arrived in Iraq.
As made odvious by the incident in 2007 they seem to have taken the law into their own hands.
Like the My Lai massacre during the Viet Nam War,

The My Lai Massacre was the mass murder of 347 to 504 unarmed citizens in South Vietnam, almost entirely civilians and some of them women and children, conducted by U.S. Army forces on March 16, 1968. Some of the victims were sexually abused, beaten, tortured, or maimed, and some of the bodies were found mutilated.[1] The massacre took place in the hamlets of Mỹ Lai and My Khe of Sơn Mỹ village during the Vietnam War.[2][3] Of the 26 US soldiers initially charged with criminal offences for their actions at My Lai, only William Calley was convicted. He served four and a half months of his two-year sentence.

where US Army Troops also took the law into their own hands.
Just one of the reasons the United States is seen as a corrupt and evil country around the world.

Iraq welcomes charges against Blackwater guards

Associated Press - December 6, 2008 9:03 AM ET

BAGHDAD (AP) - The Iraqi government is cheering the reported indictments against five Blackwater Worldwide security guards in the 2007 killing of 17 Iraqi civilians in Baghdad.

A government spokesman tells The Associated Press that Iraq welcomes any attempt to hold the guards -- who he refers to as "criminals" -- accountable.

In September of last year, a convoy of heavily armed Blackwater contractors opened fire in a crowded Baghdad intersection. Witnesses say the shooting was unprovoked, but Blackwater says its guards were ambushed.

People close to the case say the U.S. Justice Department indicted the five late Thursday. It is reportedly negotiating a plea bargain with a sixth.

The spokesman says the Iraqi government has retained a law firm to pursue compensation for the families of the victims and he expects the settlement to be big.
