Iraqis killed and slaughtered because US government leaves them behind

What is happening in Iraq is nothing you have seen before in any war. Right? Well look at  the rest of the story. See how innocent people are being hunted down and slaughtered because they helped the US government. These are translators and interpreters. These are not soldiers. They carry no gun or did they EVER carry one. What they did is work for one year for US Government. At the end of that year they were to get a green card and visa. But alas the US government drug their feet and are still dragging their feet. Now these brave men and women are hunted and killed by the insurgents. They are  called traitors for their work. They have no where to hide.

We must help to get these people out of Iraq and settle them in the USA as the government promised. If we don't do it nobody else will.

A lone man has taken on himself to help these brave Iraqis, His name is Kirk Johnson. He was in Iraq: he saw for himself what was happening. SO he came back to the states and started a website The list project. He gets as many of the Iraqi interpreters and translators on a list, as he  finds them. Then his team of professionals go to work trying to save lives and resettle them in to  a new safe life in the USA, a job the American government should be doing, but is not.

He has brought out some to safety and continues to work daily, never tiring of the job ahead of him. He says we have a legal and moral obligation to these Iraqis that worked for the US.

You can contact the list at  www.thelistproject.org   or if you are an Iraqi in Iraq you can contact them at  refugee@thelistproject.org   Give them your name and email address and you will be contacted. Then the wheels start to turn finally.

Imagine if you can living in hiding in an army base or in the green zone waiting on death, every minute of every day. This is Americas  duty to save these heros. This is Americas duty to find a safe home for them. This is our duty to help in any way we can since the government is not.

As an Iraqi interpreter , I would like to thank Jean for her article. Iraqi interpreters are men and women without a country now. They were strongly engaged in Iraq's situation and they worked hard for the better future of Iraq. Most of them paid their ultimate prices and some sacrificed their beloved ones and members of families. These brave men and women were joined the Coalition Forces in order to help the young democracy in Iraq. They are gulity for nothing except they worked for the CFs. They do face threat , intimidation and torture everyday , many of them escaped and some are in hide in Iraq now without job. And we should know that most of them carry high college degrees , they are doctors , some are lawyers , some are teachers ...... Once they had a satisfied job and secure life although they were unable to express themselves freely under Husseins regime. The situation of Iraq has a direct impact on the Middle East and the peace process. I think U.S. is in debt to these people and the international community must not leave these people to terrorisim and killers. Let's do our best as much as we can to help those people.
