At dusk this evening, we saw outer bands from the arriving Irene. The hurricane will hit Washington DC in full force at 2 am Sunday morning. By Saturday afternoon we should experience some significant wind and rain.

I removed everything from the balcony as inspectors toured the entire building to make certain residents complied with the rules. Many people have evacuated the area, but we will stick it out as we have before.

Worst case scenario: opening a can of beans for dinner with a manual can opener. How bad is that?
