Irish Republican prisoner in England denied all rights

It has just been revealed that an Irish Republican prisoner in

Full Sutton jail has gone on protest and will be

"banged-up" on a 24/7 basis, with all rights denied,

including telephone contact with his family and

friends. Apparently the Irish Embassy, the

ICPO, and Foreign Affairs in Dublin are being

contacted.

This sentenced long-term prisoner, from Co. Fermanagh,

is complaining because others have been transferred to

a jail of their choice, even though his application

was lodged a considerable time before them. He feels

he is being discriminated against, yet again, not only

by the British authorities, but also those based in

Dublin. The latter have turned down his application,

FOUR TIMES, to be repatriated to Portlaoise Jail. At

this juncture we believe he wishes to be moved to

WHITEMOOR, in England, to be closer to those who visit

him.

The October 5th Association, a network of 1968 civil

rights veterans and supporters, have been working on

his case and others, seeking repatriation to Ireland,

over recent years. All those jailed with him have

since been repatriated. We believe him to be in a very

dangerous location as he was knifed in the past by two

non-Irish prisoners. Updates have been promised

from those campaigning on his behalf in London, and

a fuller picture is awaited before deciding on what  additional action should be taken in a

bid to secure that his wishes are met ASAP.

Please re-cirulate to friends and others who may be interested in the plight of this

prisoner, and all others who feel that their rights are being trampled upon, either here or

in England, or elsewhere.

If you wish to assist in any way please write to our

association via rights.civil@googlemail.com

Although the name of the individual concerned has not been made public, it is a matter of fact that

there remains only one  Irish Republican imprisoned in England.
