Some say it is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. I am a Christian and with that stated, understand that what I am about to say is not a compromise on my own faith but a respect and acknowledgment of another's.
I remember reading a quote that said
"The danger of religion lies in it's most attractive feature. It is the arrogance that comes with thinking that you possess the ultimate knowledge". As religious zealots, we have a tendency to parse, dissect and ridicule anything we view as different instead taking the time to celebrate what brings us together. Maybe that moment of reason would have inspired a more civil discourse different from the uncompromising and brutal religious ideologies that brought us the
Crusades, the
Holocaust,
Israel vs Palestine and
9/11.
You see, it baffles me that some people don't know that the god of
Muslims,
Christians and
Jews is the same God. It disappoints me to realize that some people are unaware of the fact that the Koran acknowledges Moses and confirms the second coming of Jesus just as much as it shocks me when some Christians don't know that the Old testament of the Christian Bible is in fact of Jewish authorship and is borrowed from the Jewish Bible. Fact of the matter is, these three Faiths are more woven together in ways that do not necessarily fix our differences but allow us to co-habitat with less tumultuous confrontations and outcomes.
I've learned that much like
Love,
Peace,
Politics and the
Environment, Religion is not immune to the abusive nature of humanity. I've often insisted that almost anything man touches becomes
tainted and
stained by our
flaws and
frailties. They say God made man then man made religion. And so
Religion, much like anything else created out of good intent, is not exempt from the punishment and brutality of our ability to corrupt what is good, violate what is innocent, divide whats should be unified and exploit what is pure.
Sincerely yours,
Kwapi

While all revealed religions claim to have the absolute truth, the difference with Islam is that it claims supremacy of Muslims over non-Muslims, with the right to rule the world by force, which makes it far more dangerous than others. That is the crux of the problem. Any religion that calls for beheading must be rejected completely.
Do all Muslims believe in beheading? Do all or most Muslims believe in supremacy over non-Muslims? Do Christians believe in supremacy over all other religions? Whoops. I bet they do, and therein lies the problem.
What percentage of Muslims believe in beheading?
