Israeli troops moved further into the suburbs of Gaza City and are engaged in street fighting with Palestinian militants.

The United Nations is warning of serious humanitarian problems as more than 90,000 people fled their homes, hiding out in schools and parks.

A Gaza rights group has said more than 90,000 people have fled their homes.

Palestinian medical officials say more than 40 people were killed on Tuesday, as Israeli troops advanced into parts of Gaza City and continued attacks elsewhere in the Gaza Strip.

With the death toll from the 17-day Israeli assault on Gaza climbing above 900, pressure is increasing for an independent inquiry into specific incidents, such as the shelling of a UN school turned refugee centre where about 40 people died, as well as the question of whether the military tactics used by Israel systematically breached humanitarian law.

An aid boat that was prevented from going into Gaza on Monday after suffering mechanical problems will be making the attempt again on Wednesday:

Last year a bid by the Free Gaza Movement seeking to break Israel's blockade on Gaza ended on December 30 when an Israeli navy vessel was in collision with the vessel, in what passengers said was a deliberate ramming.

The war has been discussed online by both sides and from people watching all over the world, with the IDF even having a website dedicated to the offensive, called 'Operation Cast Lead'.

I was asked by the ministry of foreign affairs to arrange a network of volunteers, who are willing to contribute to this effort. If you're up to it you will receive a daily messages & media package as well as targets.

If you wish to participate, please respond to this email.

My friend did so and received this official communique from the ministry with talking points about Operation Cast Lead which s/he was to use in her/his propaganda efforts.

These were shop workers who worked in a very fasionable boutique in Kensington, just around the corner from the Israeli Embassy in London. It was taken on the day of the massive demonstration attended by over 100 000 people against the massacres taking place in Gaza. The shop workers were watching and waving to the protestors as they went by and one was even waving a placard!

peace might be reached with love, respect, with being open to conversations and advices..NOT, if even from Barcelona people shout their approval to Hamas terrorists acts, and sing the prises of the Intifada.

Correction - 1 of the pics (with the people jumping behind the banner) was taken at the London protest. The others were from the Brighton demo the next day

The International Red Cross said Tuesday that Israel has fired white phosphorus shells in its offensive in the Gaza Strip, but has no evidence to suggest it is being used improperly or illegally.

Daytime use = smokescreens

nightime use = illumination
