Israel Removes Key Roadblock in West Bank Ahead of Obama Speech

A day before US President Barack Obama addresses the Arab world, Israel has dismantled a military checkpoint that had impeded Palestinian travel in the West Bank. Palestinians say the removal of one obstacle does not address the broader need to ease the movement of people and goods.

The checkpoint is one of hundreds set up throughout the West Bank, this one on the road from Ramallah and a major transportation point for Palestinians.

Israel maintains hundreds of roadblocks throughout the West Bank, saying they are needed to prevent the movement of militants.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is under heavy U.S. pressure to get peacemaking back on track by recognizing the Palestinians' right to a state of their own and halting settlement expansion in the West Bank.

Well, it is easy to put this road block back after the speech and Politically it give Israel the ability to argue that it is showing good faith.
