NP Rank:
Israeli Apartheid Week 2009 may be coming to a campus near you
"This year, IAW occurs in the wake of Israel's barbaric assault against the people of Gaza. Lectures, films and actions will make the point that these latest massacres further confirm the true nature of Israeli Apartheid."
This seems to be a
group that wants to
be fair to both sides
with a balanced program
that presents both sides of
this dispute.
In the same video, Rafeeh Ziadah of Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid, dismissed the option of dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians.
"Nobody would have asked a black South African to dialogue with a white South African. Nobody would have asked a black from the southern United States to dialogue with members of the KKK. Now, by that same logic, we Palestinians have nothing to dialogue about with Zionists," she said.
The focus in past years' weeks has included "Apartheid and the Current Context in Palestine," "Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement against Israeli Apartheid: Lessons from South Africa," "Nakba and the Right of Return," and "Voices for Palestine: Resistance to Racism and Apartheid."
Yes, definitely an open minded group.

In South Africa, just to give one example, Bishop Tutu encouraged and sought dialogue between whites and black and people of mixed race. Anyone who declares otherwise does so because they seek Israel's destruction. Not talking to the Israelis is a way to deny them their identity as human beings.

That is the view of the extremists, those who don't want Israel to exist.

158,
peace equals equilibrium.
equilibrium inpsires fearlessness
fearlessness nurtures innovation
innovation sponsors jobs, economy
which underscores peace...

I can't argue with that but would add it needs trust to work.

Perhaps it's easier for Ms. Ziadah to refuse dialogue with Israel because she is living in the USA, enjoying the security and freedom provided by the gov't of said state. I am not seeking to denigrate her or her pain, or the pain of the Palestinian people. But to refuse to talk with Israel or to refuse to see that there are those within Israel who want equilibrium and peace is counterproductive and self-destructive. ALL the Israelis I have met want to live in peace, work at their jobs, raise their families. I suspect that there are many Palestinians who are getting very tired of the angry rhetoric and want the same. However, MOST of the Moslems I have met here in Canada believe the Jews are their sworn enemies and must be discredited and defeated. Maybe I'm missing something here, but this has been my experience.

Thank you for a very good comment. I think you are right. For peace they must talk to each other and agree that both states have a right to exist and be free,
