An Israeli soldier has vanished while exercising on the country's Northern border with Lebanon. Israel fired flare shells about 5 kilometers into Lebanon on Friday evening in an attempt to find the missing soldier.

Unconfirmed reports also mentioned that an Israeli soldier drowned the day before (Thursday the 19th of February).

This event comes at a time of change in the Israeli prime minister's office. It also follows the one year anniversary of the assassination by Israeli special forces of Imad Mughniyyeh - a top ranking Hizbullah commander stationed in Syria.

I think that this needs an opinion tab. It is UNCONFIRMED that Israel killed this guy and the press in Israel makes no mention of any soldier disappearing off the coast. The press did state that a surfer was missing since Thursday. This is not acceptable as news/fact.

tikun:
1. You are refuting a nonexisting fact. the article does not state that 'Israel killed this guy'. 2. The Israeli media omitting a fact does not make it false. Two new outlets have mentioned this story: Alarbiya (Dubai-based pro-American) and Nahar (most circulated Lebanese news daily). Do a Google News search to read other references.

Look at the sources. There is NO mainstream media taking this story seriously. If there was even the slightest possible truth to this piece then at least the Guardian would have it on the front page. They are no friend of Israel.
