Two Pakistani nationals -a father and a son - were arrested in a police raid from Brescia, northern Italy.

Italian police says that these two allegedly did a money transfer to fund Nov 26 Mumbai terrorist attacks that killed around 100 people. The money is used to activate an internet phone used by the terrorists.

Italian police was following up an alert given by FBI and was tracing the money transfer made from Italy.

The fund transfer was happened in the name of another Pakistani national who was never been to Italy and did not have any links to the terrorist who attacked Mumbai.

Two Pakistani nationals suspected of being involved in the Mumbai terror attacks have been arrested in Italy.

They were arrested in the northern city of Brescia in Italy, Britain's 'Sky News' reported today.

The men are believed to have provided logistical support for last year's terror attacks in Mumbai.

Police sources claim the pair used a money transfer agency they managed to send funds for the attacks.

The money was used to pay for an internet phone account used by people in contact with the attackers, according to reports.

*****Update*****

The duo have been identified by the police as Mohammad Yaqub Janjua, 60, and Aamer Yaqub Janjua, 31. They have been accused of aiding and abetting international terrorism as well as illegal financial activity.

On November 25, 2008, a day before the attacks, they transferred USD 229 to activate an internet phone account that was used by the attackers and their accomplices, said Stefano Fonzi, the head of anti-terror police in Brescia.

The funds that enabled the terrorists to be in touch with their handlers in Pakistan were transferred under the identity of another Pakistani man who had never been to Italy and was not involved in the attacks, reports from Italy said.

Amit,

It is because nobody checked till date.

Let us wait till some Antarctican explorer comes up with the evidence of "holy war' once they start looking.

They know thatthey can't make the whole earth into "sacred / holy lands"  by conquering the "infidel" lands in traditional wars. A majority of Muslims are against that kind of terrorism. So is this subtle way of "conquering and purification" takes place in unsuspecting countries.

No one is safe anymore. ("mongering" and "phobia").

Arrest of Headley and Rana in USA,two Pakistani nationals in Italy has put Mumbai police in an embrassing situation, whose inconsistent statements had already confounded the confusion.

Moreover,we need to revamp and overhaul intelligence agencies and investigating agencies.Even before investigations are complete, both seem eager to outdo each other to crown themselves with credit.Conflicting and contradicting statements are issued to the press. One accused mastermind is facing almost same charges Headley faces.

At the end of the day police fails to substantiate charges resulting in acquittal.

Thanks for the update, Kidwai.

Talking about the police efficiency, I think you got it all wrong about the efficiency of Indian police.

Yesterday I say a battalion of police actively hunting people who have commited henious crimes. The alertness, the purpose and the intent in their eyes told me that they mean real business. They were hunting down hardcore criminals like hawks do with chicken.

I am sure they must have collected a minimum of a couple of lakh rupees from those criminas thugs who were riding motorbikes without helmet and driving cars registered in a different states.

Oh..! How can I forget the money they collected (for Prime Minister's flood relief fund - ofcourse) from the road-side criminal who sells tea and cigarettes  to the public...!!!
