She was called “world’s oldest facebooker” at the time, but she dared not stop at this social media milestone. UK resident Ivy Bean, who turned 105 today, has joined Twitter in May, making her world’s oldest Twitter user as well. Ivy Bean’s Twitter feed is very cute and personal. She is being followed by a whopping 33,217 people as of September 8. Talking about her retirement house business and the passing of her close friends, Bean definitely puts a unique spin on Twitter chatter. Not surprisingly, Bean posts virtually no links in her Tweets. On just one occasion she posted a link to the CNN’s interview apropos her birthday. Nonetheless, Bean’s Twitter feed even sports a couple of Twitpics, which Bean herself admits were put up by the staff at her care house. But, to me, the fact that she is even aware of the Twitpic option and wants to experiment with it is amazing in and of itself.

Among the topics touched upon by Bean in her Tweets are:

--Her favourite fish and chips for dinner
--Watching “Deal or No Deal”
--Playing dominoes
--Appointment for a new hairdo
--Enjoying the good life "with no smoking or drinking"
--Apologizing to people for not “friending” them on Facebook because she has 18,000 friend requests and is allowed to have a maximum of 5,000 friends
--Being in the top 3 most re-tweeted people and not knowing what that means

Bean’s Facebook account is also very active. Bean’s profile picture can even be said to be a little naughty – it is not often we get to see a profile picture of a centenarian with a champagne bottle on their lap.  She now has fanpages too.

All in all, an amazing woman to say the least.

Bean has a Facebook page and has grown very fond of Twitter and her words aren’t going into space either.
The great grandmother of two – soon to be five – and a resident of care home, Hillside Manor, recently won a gold medal at the home’s Over-75 Olympics in the Frisbee-throwing category.

It's actually more interesting than 90% of other Twitter feeds, in my opinion.

Good for her.  At 105 that's quite an accomplishment.  A lot of elderly have ino interest in modern technology.  So this is quite amazing.
