Jack Cafferty Ripped By Alec Baldwin For 2003 Hit-and-Run

Jack Cafferty was blasted by actor Alec Baldwin after the CNN commentator criticized Baldwin's potential run for political office.

Cafferty ripped Baldwin's potential run for Congress, saying that actors as a rule don't make good politicians.

Baldwin’s credentials are questionable… but Al Franken is no slouch. He’s Harvard educated and one of his first duties will be as a committee member for the confirmation hearing of Sonia Sotomayor next week.

Why it occurs to actors who spend their time pretending to be someone else that they are the answer to our nation’s problems is a mystery. On second thought, how much worse can they be than the ones that are groomed for life inside the Beltway?

Alec Baldwin decided to fire back at Jack Cafferty on HuffPo.

I would like to make a deal with Cafferty. Jack, you don't tell people that a career in the performing arts disqualifies them from seeking elected office, and I won't say publicly that your being convicted of leaving the scene of an accident in which you struck a cyclist and then ran two red lights while you were pursued by the police and were subsequently ordered to serve 70 hours of community service back in May of 2003 disqualifies you from posing as a "Man of the People" on a major cable news network.

Fair enough?

Baldwin is referring to a 2003 incident where Cafferty pleaded guilty to charges of leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and assault.

Cafferty deserved that one.

Whether I agree or not with Alec Baldwin, he should run if he wants to, and he is more than intelligent enough to be a politician and at least talented enough to do Jack Cafferty's job as well as Jack Cafferty does it.

Jack Cafferty is an idiot! OMG this guy did not even graduate from College, and we should pay attention to what he thinks, ..... WHY??? He confessed to a hit and run and he still has a gig with CNN? I guess they can't afford to lose another liberal broadcaster. Shame on CNN and Cafferty should go see if he can get a job at Acorn...... He would be a good fit. I understand that they love to hire people with a record.  As far as Alec Baldwin, it's America, if he feels he has been called to serve then he SHOULD! I am a conservative, and I support his right to run.... hell I might even vote for the guy if he had some good ideas...
