Jack Lalanne Died

He was born in San Francisco on September 26, 1914. A self-confessed sugar- and junk-food addict as a child, he went on to study bodybuilding and weight-lifting by the time he was in his late teens.

From the 1950s through the 1980s, LaLanne performed multiple feats of strength and endurance. His first such stunt was an underwater swim the length of the Golden Gate Bridge, loaded with 140 pounds of equipment, in 1954. He went on to stage many attention-getting events, including completing over a thousand pushups in a little over 20 minutes, and towing 65 boats filled with thousands of pounds of wood pulp in Japan.

jack lalanne died, The cause, said Hersh, was respiratory failure due to pneumonia. LaLanne had been ill for the past week. His wife, Elaine, was at his side, along with his family and friends, Hersh said.

Many years ago my sister Bev used to work out with Jack LaLanne and his wife Loraine. Bev spoke very highly of him and said he was a funny and great guy. I admired his discipline about exercise and praise him for inspiring millions of Americans to take better care of themselves. What a great and long life he had. Anyone can die of pneumonia at any age. I believe he would have lived past 100 otherwise.

What an inspiration to everyone at any age, a real pioneer in physical fitness and good nutrition. Almost every gym today is based on what Jack Lalanne first started many years ago. He improved the quality of life for many, we thank him for that.

This is a very sad day for all of us. He was a great man. He got many awards regarding health & Fitness. He has given a way how to do justice with our soul & body by changing the life style.
He always said that he could not die because that would ruin his reputation. I think it ruins the reputation of heart valve surgery and of his surgeons. Having the surgery certainly did not extend his life.
He died of phenomena today in his home at age 96. Very sad, i hoped to read about his 100th birthday.

Good by Jack. You will be missed...

Jack was truly a great inspiration to me and someone I looked up to since my early days of exercise. He wasn't a phoney who spoke oneway and behaved entirely different but truly lived his life as a great example to others.Jack died but his ideals will live on forever.
