Jacob Zuma: The exception to the rule
These noble words come from a man who three years ago was accused of raping an HIV-positive family friend. Although he was acquitted, JZ can't be declared innocent.
Let's not forget that he had voluntary unprotected sex with an HIV-positive woman while having a score of wives. He could have easily passed on the virus to them and to their children, and giving them the death sentence.
However, Zuma claimed that he was safe because he took a shower straight afterwards.
Of course it is brilliant that a political leader of a country like South Africa, where 1200 people a day get infected, speaks out so strongly on HIV/AIDS. But unfortunately, in this case it is not only the content of a speech that matters.
Some people in South Africa say that the past should be laid to rest and that Zuma, although he made a mistake, should be given a second chance.
Personally, I am all for giving people a second chance. People screw up sometimes and this should not be hold against them until the day they die. Obviously there are exceptions. And to me, Zuma falls into that category.

Nice conclusion. I would tend to agree with you here.

He is an exception, I agree. The fact that he stated that is was ok he had unprotected sex with an HIV positive woman because he took a shower straight after is not ok - actions speak louder than words.

To think that Zuma (in 2004 I think) was the char of the South African National Aids Council...
