James Holmes Charged with 24 Counts of Murder, 116 Counts of Attempted Murder

James Holmes has been charged with 24 counts of murder and 116 counts of murder relating to the Aurora, Colorado cinema shooting on July 20, 2012. 12 people were killed in the shooting, and 58 more injured.

The only real issue here is one of mental capacity: it's unimaginable that James Holmes' defense team will argue that Holmes was not the perpetrator. Surely they will go for some sort of insanity plea. 

Craig Silverman, a former chief deputy district attorney in Denver, remarked, "This is not a whodunit." James Holmes himself has been laying the groundwork for such a plea by his behavior in custody, though many believe him to be faking it:
