At the Pier Shops at Caesar's in Atlantic City, New Jersey, James Vallanti, the chief opertaing officer for JNF Asset Management LLC in New York, had fell to his death from an escalator.

Police are investigating the fall, which is the second in two years at the mall. In August 2008, Frank Gilbert Jr. plunged to his death from the escalator

Connected to the Caesar Atlantic City is the Pier Shops, a Hotel and Casino, by a sky bridge.

Karen MacDonald, spokeswoman for Taubman Centers Inc., which owns a majority of the Pier, said in an e-mail that the Atlantic City Police Department's investigation is in the early going. Police were called at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, Sgt. Angelo Maimone said
