TOKYO, Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda is resigning from office,  Press conference of today September the First 2008 at 21:30 Japanese local time.

A Political Earth Quake that will go around the World.

Japan has 5 major Political Parties, Namely the LPD the Liberal Democratic Party to wish the current Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda belongs.

The DPJ, Democratic Party of Japan, lead by Ichirō Ozawa 小沢一郎 is a social liberal party.

Then there is the New KomeitoKomeitō 公明党  Party a conservative party lead by Takenori Kanzaki.

Japanese Communist Party (JCP) Nihon Kyōsan-tō 日本共産党 .

Social Democratic Party (Japan) (SDP) Shakai Minshutō, or Shamin-tō 社民党

Mister Fukuda, the resigning Prime Minister, said in his speech that the government due to the fact it is a minority government is no longer in a position to govern, since it is being hindered by the opposition on every bill, there for the Opposition should take over the Government.

Elections are not likely at this point, yet should the Opposition take over the Government and Prime Minister position it would put the DPJ into power with Ichirō Ozawa 小沢一郎 as Prime Minister.

The DPJ is a left centre party against the War in Iraq and Afghanistan, also against the US Missile Defence program and US Military bases on Japanese soil. It would be in deed a big change in Japanese Politics, especially since the LPD of resigning Prime Minister Fukuda has be leading Japan for over 53 years now. Having been in power since 1955.

However even the DPJ would not have a majority it self and would have to rely on the support of the Socialist and or the Communist party in order to Govern the Country.

The Social Democrats and Communist would most likely want some radical changes in order to support Ozawa as Prime Minister and his party the DPJ in the Governing Position.

Most Japanese are rather surprised at this moment by Mister Fukada his resignation and the turn of events.

This may very well be the biggest Political Change in Japan's post WWII history.

Details to follow.

Tuesday second of September 2008,

The DPJ, Japan's main opposition party lead by Ichirō Ozawa, is now demanding anticipated election.

Wensday 03 of Sept. 2008.

LDP in great internal turmoil over choosing Fukuda successor, Base of Party wants electoral reforms and be able to vote for party leaders.

LDP tries to avoid general elections, yet being Minority government and under great pressure from opposition parties, general election are to be expected to be anounced soon.

the DJP is confident to win the next general election and then change the course of Japan's Politic.

Sounds as though Japan's #1 ally could be in some deep doo doo with the new government.

Fukuda, was a reformer and weak when becomming PM.  With bank interest rates as low as they are (and have been) for so long Japan's economy should of had positive growth well beyond its weak performance.  Japan's FDI into China, on the basis of no political influence on their system can only be considered as dumb.

Well I guess then that I'm very glad my one friend got out of Japan when she did, she was staying on a base her husband was stationed at, and this could have effected her greatly.

Actually it is Great News Paschen....Now the new Governement can bring back real respect to the Japanese instead of being subservant hacks and war slaves to the USA. Let's hope they can get ole USA out of Japan once and for all. Japan deserves better than to be under the thumb of the USA when it used Japan as guinea pigs to test their nuclear arsenal. The USA dropped the Atomic bomb on Japan targeting innocent civilians instead of military targets, and claimed it won the war...despite evidence that Japan had surrendered months before....all this time now and they have never really given Japan back its sovereignty....They still have controlling military bases in Japan....Think they will leave Iraq?    What a monkey, dog and pony show!
