Jared Lee Loughner Murder Trial: Suspected Arizona Gunman Mass Murder Trial Moving To San Diego?

The murder trial of Jared Loughner, the accused gunman in the January 8 Tucson shooting may be moved to San Diego if a request by federal officials is granted by the Arizona courts.

The Washington Post is reporting that Federal Officials are concerned about the massive publicity surrounding Jared Lee Loughner and the shootings in Tucson.

...court officials plan to move the case out of the state within several weeks, the sources said. They cited publicity and the sensitivity of the case in Arizona, where one of those fatally shot was John M. Roll, the state's chief federal judge.

The new chief judge, Roslyn O. Silver, will make the final decision about any venue change, but one law enforcement official said, "It's going to happen. It's just a matter of time."

If the Jared Loughner trial were to move then San Diego is reportedly a logical choice partly because it is one of the federal court districts relatively close to Tucson.
