Jasmine Lynn, a Spelman College student, was shot and killed on the campus of Clark Atlanta University. Jasmine Lynn was a bystander when a nearby altercation turned to gunfire, and she was shot in the chest by a stray bullet. Jerome Jones, a first-year Clark Atlanta student, was also hit by a stray bullet, and was hospitalized and released.

One witness was grabbed and beaten by bystanders and is being questioned by police in a nearby hospital.

The police haven't said whether or not those involved in the fight were students.

The Spelman College flag is flying at half mast today in Jasmine Lynn's honor. There is also a Jasmine Lynn Facebook memorial group.

The victim, Jasmine Lynn, of Kansas City, Mo., was “walking southbound on James P. Brawley when she was struck in the chest by a stray round from a group of individuals involved in a physical altercation on Mitchell Street,” Atlanta police Lt. Keith Meadows said.
Clark Atlanta officials also issued a statement late Thursday morning, saying the college is offering counseling to students and employees.
