Today, the miraculous reappearance of Jaycee Lee Dugard, a girl missing for 18 years, has caused quite a bit of uproar and disbelief. Dugard was kidnapped in South Lake Tahoe in 1991 by Philip and Nancy Garrido before the eyes of her stepfather. Dugard's family believed the girl to be dead, and were looking for closure. Dugard was identified as the missing girl when she and the Garridos walked into a police station to ask a question.

The El Dorado police held a press conference today to disclose more details about the case. Here are the highlights.

--Jaycee Lee Dugard was found alive in Antioch, California
--Dugard was discovered living with convicted sex offender Phillip Garrido, she went by "Alissa"
--Two young girls, 11 and 15 years old, found with Dugard have been determined to be the children of Garrido and Dugard
--Dugard and her two children lived in the family's backyard
--Dugard's family members are believed to have had no involvement in her disappearance
--Dugard's children never attended school, or seen a doctor

This is such a stunning story,  the reappearance of this girl,  now a grown woman, after all these years.  And her own father had been accused at the time!

Hi,  I added the YouTube Associated Press footage from the Now Public library,  waiting for it to show.  OK?  ;)

Jaycee Dugard is Tahoe's child and we have NEVER forgotten her and prayed for her safe return. This is nothing short of a miracle. Her missing posters can still be found around our town 18 yrs. later, and it is truly a blessing that her step-father can finally be exonerated. It will be a long road ahead for Jaycee and her family considering the horrendous treatment she has endured, but with the love of her Mother and family I have faith that she will thrive. Can you just imagine what this poor baby went through.... Hopefully one day she will be able to return to us and see the outpouring of love that one small, little town has held for her for all these years.

Happy ending? I believe her problems are far from over.

Sorry, yuls.source;  the only reason I had put the YouTube on your post is that I had had it set aside,  but saw your story,  and did not want to detract from your own nice post.  Sorry. :(

I could not believe this when I heard it on our news this morning. I was completely horrified. This story is unbelievable and heartbreaking, but it gives hope for poor Maddie McCann. How can one man be so monstrous? No punishment is bad enough. At least in the U.S. If he gets life it wil mean life, unlike here in the U.K. Where the law is as weak and gutless as our government. How many other kidnapped children are suffering in similar situations? God bless this poor child and her children, I hope she can recover from the ordeal.

hmmmmm...Jesus freaks.  When will people realize that religion is nothing more than a cover up for evil and control?

Jesus has nothing to do with religion.

The reason the police did nothing, nor "said that they" did not search the backyard is because they were men!  Men simply cannot operate in a civilized society, especially to uphold the law in one.  All their judgements are based on "their" penis or someone else's penis.  The cop that went their just figured, hey I'm a man too and I completely understand....let the guy have his piece of ass.  Men may choose to completely argue with my statement because they are the ultimate of liberals, even so hypocritically!  But, women, wake up ....mark my words.  The cop that went their KNEW about it, I can almost guarantee it!  And, HE TOO will be safeguarded because of that "well, he's a man and he just was understanding about the penis issue" thing.

First, we are a SEX orientated culture.  We judge people according to the money they have and their sex abilities. Second, this low-life deserves the worse punishment the govt. can give.  He made a horrendous immoral decision no matter what his circumstances were.  At present, our world believes in no slaves.  The Universe will judge him further after he dies. (his wife included) Third, we have a responsibility to our culture to not emphasis, the idea that the self is the most important and therefore the self can do anything that popps in ones head.  Having said that we also must recognize that most of these kind of horrors are committed by people that are poor and stressed out, so we need to begin to care for them.
